On friday my Tom Tom 500 suddenly started displaying this error code

I’ve done everything as suggested, but when I try to update, I get this.
Could not open destination ‘‘E:\data.chk’’ for writing
Does that mean the SD card is [zb]ed,

No such error code on my map book thank goodness.
joe have you put any custom warnings on it
it maybe an idea to reaply the dat.chk file but do a full back up then format the sd card and reapply the back up to the sd card
make sure you show all hidden files in the windows explorer before doing the back up
Thanks Alix, but the Tom Tom refused to cooperate with the original sd card, I bought a new blank sd card and down loaded the european map, and it works fine.
