Tom Moorhouse, Huddersfield

Hi, guys first time poster long time reader

First I have to say thanks to all the guys on the new and wannabe drivers side of things for helps and tips getting me through my class 2 last year and that stupid CPC (Mod4) test which thanks to you guys i pretty much had the answers.

Anyway back to my post, does anyone have any info about these guys i know they have a good name in general haulage. I was wondering if anyone knew if they paid for overnight parking and what the work is like. Basically if i should run a mile or not.

Thanks guys

Welcome to the forum ‘properly’ fella. As for Tom Moorhouse I heard he doesn’t pay mega bucks but without sounding offensive you’re a newbie.

Thanks for the welcome. Your spot on of course, i aren’t bothered about the pay that much it isn’t great but since i haven’t even got a year HGV driving under my belt i am prepared for the crappier money.

It was more a general question about how they are with people and the night out parking, you never seem to know with transport managers these days plenty take the mick but just got to have my head screwed on right an be prepared for whatever comes.

I had an interview with them when I got my Class 1 a fair few years ago. Pay isn’t brilliant, but I think I remember that they pay for parking if you’re loaded. You also get a bonus for keeping the wagon clean, and as I remember specifically, “keeping your tails tucked in n your curtain buckles”. They didn’t have many rigids though. I also remember that they like to “keep things simple”.

WTF, what is it about driving a truck that makes you think new drivers should be paid less, it ain’t exactly brain surgery and years of experience doesn’t seem to prevent accidents or ■■■■ ups.

Thanks for the info guys i appreciate it.

The money side of things is low but maybe that is what put some drivers off going for the job. At least i will actually be getting some experience that most companies seem to require 2 years. As soon as i hit 2 years experience i must automatically become a better drive
