toll roads

as euorpean haulage companys DON’T buy fuel in the uk don’t you think its time the govement brought in toll system were you buy road tax at the port just like every other european country, germany rake in 2.5billion a yr from toll collect, as some were between 10/12 thousard truck arrive in the uk each day, that money would improve the roads as it has in germany ■■?

what do you lads think ■■

I have been saying this for years, but good old England will stitch us up while every other nation does as they please over here. Not just on the roads !!!

The government should do it through the ferry operators. Any non UK registered commercial booking, should have a nominated entry and exit date, charge £10 per day, if you can’t find a back load in time, tough, back to calais, zebee etc empty. Then the ferry operators pay the government. No gps systems, no toll booths, no extra staff, but most of all, no gettin away without paying!

i`m not bothered how it is implemented but they must be made to contribute

Nah, just make the British taxpayer pay for it, try putting 80p tax on a litre of fuel… :imp: :imp: :imp:

which ever way they do it, it has to be done, i favour a tag system like austria or the czech republic have, the police soon know when you have no car tax or mot or insurance with on borad computers, this same system could be used to inforce complience,

When you fly, you are charged a tax, bring in the same thing for a ferry crossing, after all where will our NHS & pension money come from?

Like the EU have just banned cheap insurance deals for women and old people, they have also agreed that any tolls or road charging must be charged to every user, including the locals

if thats the case then they have too reduce the road fund licence for all locals including HGVs to make it a fair system, otherwise there will be no fairness

You will have to have a word with your Tea Shock :stuck_out_tongue: Cos ours aint listening

the RHA should be taking this one up plus your local MPs, you need to bombard them with letters and emails, truck & driver mag should start a national pettion, then hopefuley some of the big boy’s might get on broad, but no every one will just sit back let it happen and then moan about…
