Off topic,i know,it may get moved to Bullys Bar.If visiting european capital cites,i always stay a few miles away from the tourist areas,which is much cheaper and quieter.
For example,hotels will offer a good deal to fill rooms,when business men vacate for the weekends,the hotel wants to keep the place going.Instead of top rates in Amsterdam,stay at the Hague or Rotterdam.The train or bus gets you there in minutes.Plus you can have a cruise tour of the europort,the largest in europe,to see large ships,quite closely.The same in New York,stay at the Bronx or Queens,low crime rate,not as bad as what you may think.Mix with the locals.Coslada for Madrid.
