Stupid really, just thought, all of the trucks are tracked and displayed on a big screen in the office for the boss and the other guys to see so he would know exactly where, when and how fast i was at any time.

I was gonna ask about that. Most of the time i get left alone as i am on a Tracker and they know where i am.
Now and again i get comments like
âthat took a while to loadâ to which i just reply âyesâ
Just ignore them, I reckon half 5 is a good time after the day you had.

If youâve done your best, then thatâs it.Nobody can 100% predict journey times these days.If youâre held up,for whatever reason, then there is absolutely nothing you can do.Keep your boss informed, then let him work the problems out.Be safe!
Just tell him they took 3 hours to load you at Coleshill, not your fault unless they wanted you to ring them after youâd been there for an hour or 2 so they could ring & try and hurry them up (good luck with that).
You couldnât have done the job any quicker like youâve said. Your boss sounds like a â â â â â â .
I do the same run every day and sometimes I gain 20 mins or so and other days I lose an hour.It just depends on people where you load unload are on holiday or of sick or like me today a dog decided to go for a walk on the m5 .keep doing what you do,be safe and donât hurt yourself or others and try to get the truck back in one piece
I did some artic experience for a firm a while ago all their trucks were GPS monitored , however the euro tramper i was double manning with gave me a top tip, when you arrive at your delivery point ring the planner to confirm your arrival (they rarely looked at the big screen unless they were bored) , when you leave after your long waiting time, ring in to confirm you are leaving, make a nuisance of yourself, they will soon get off your case a bit of reverse psychology put the ball in their court and hassle them a bit.
56mph+ would have been good, tell them to up the limiter a bitâŚ
From leaving at 09.45 you had a total of 5 hours driving to do plus 30mins tipping and a 45 minute break and then add on say half hour for âdelaysâ etcâŚwhich should have seen you back in the yard at 16.30. I donât think itâs any great loss to your boss that you were an hour later given the weather conditions today. Heâs an arse!!
A job takes as long as it takes. â â â â them, dont be rushed or pressured. Mistakes happen when rushing.
xfmatt:
you had a total of 5 hours driving
I took nearly three hours each way, 129 miles there 137 miles back to depot, 266 total.

I think thats a tidy average, I always use 40mph as a base for calculations, less if it involves local work here in deepest WalesâŚ
Cheers

You can only go as fast as the vehicle in front of you or as quick as the limiter will allow.
I donât see how your boss can expect you to get the confidence to do the job quicker if he/she wonât keep giving you the opportunity to get experience?
Your boss is a complete Bell EndâŚdoes he not know that encouraging you to rush is likely to result in errors?
â â â â him, heâs an utter â â â . Iâd sling him the keys and say âletâs see you do it quicker mateyââŚ

Canât find anything to disagree with in this post!
Expecting someone new to a run to do it in record time = worthless transport manager who knows sod all about reality and the myriad things that can go wrongâŚ
Iâd have completely ignored him and made a point of just walking out while he was still talking after that. Hopefully would leave him feeling like the utter clown that he obviously must be.
You did the job safely, legally, and in full, as instructed, with no skyving.
What the fâk more does he want? âŚA glazed â â â â â brought to his table at the end of ur shift with his initials engraved on top?
Racing about in HGVâs meeting timed DEADLINES is a dangerous sport, and itâs not the TM driving the truck. You do what you can and ignore the prick.
The mark of a bad and bullying boss in any industry is the âimpossibleâ deadline type boss, they set you up for failure, his pray is the pleaser.

Wise words, itâl catch up with you and bite you in the arse sooner or later if you do!
Thanks guys for all the encouragment, i didnt think it was to slow, and your right he is a bell end, in fact he can shove his job were the sun dont shine !!!
Great news for me, I drove all the wat up to Barnsley today to see Mr Faggen of Faggen & Whalley, there training guy took me for a drive and when we got back he said it was one of the most comfterble drives he has had in a long time, went back to the boss and they offered me a job there and then to start in a weeks time at the Cov dept, only three miles away from my house. they said i will have to drive whatever for now as my New truck wonât be here for about 6-8 weeks.
So thanks again for all your words and hopefully soon iâll see you when iâm out in my new truck.
