But what to wear to get a job?

If I were a TM interviewing prospective truckers for a job, I’d take one look at some entrant in a spotless High Viz
- and promptly show him the door!
(If it’s a lady candidate, then I’d assume she keeps a washing machine under her sleeping bag in the tramper cab, so I might let her off!)
I must confess I also have no idea what they expect at interview. I turned up to one in a shirt, tie and jumper, sort of smartish casual I suppose. The guys interviewing me with in hi-vizzes!

What to wear?, smart clean clothes that you could work in, the interviewer wants a decent representative of the company in his vehicles if he’s got an ounce of sense.
Suit and tie is too obvious as you won’t be wearing them to drive a truck, and filthy clothes and dirty boots to an interview will get nowhere unless its a peanuts pay job when any sod who can walk on his hind legs will do.
Its not jusy clothes its attitude and capability that gets the good job, the initial approach is desperately important, again its how the potential driver would approach customers at the sharp end.
If its a ■■■■ poor job paying peanuts just turn up, no sod else worth a light will be applying anyway, if they pay peanuts they deserve monkeys so don’t disappoint 'em…

I wear a custom-printed T-shirt that says “Give me a job or I will ■■■■ and kill your children” and that seems to impress them.

Got a nice toasty Hi-viz, well more a black inviz with the odd dirty yellow bit showing through. Some companies you can’t walk from the car to the office without hi-viz so mine stays in the car just in case
