Just lately I’ve noticed a few Volvo FHs running in TNT livery pulling matching trailers.
Nothing unusual there I hear you say but although they are UK registered they are left hookers and very Dutch looking in the spec of both unit and trailer. Also they are very tidy and not the usual TNT beaten about style.
Just being Nosey really but anybody know the details?.
when i was working for a Swedish company in late 90’s early 00’s, our regular delivery was into TNT Northampton, Round Spinney, they were running them then, bought in NL, Dutch spec, but on GB plates. Tidy motors, but not as tidy as mine.
TNT uk fleet looks absolutely shocking, their foreign counterparts always produce better looking kit without all that stupid aerodynamic crap on the units or trailers…
i bet the uk’s wagon’s are basic fleet spec, and are used by any driver that get’s given the key’s…where as the dutch spec one’s are one person, one wagon… why do we do this, the wagon’s do get looked after a lot better if your the only driver of said truck…
They run axors & Renaults falling to bits ffs, what does that tell you? If you want a decent fleet motor get CFs(which they already have but ruined by the ugly aftermarket stuff they’ve put on). TNT Eire have Volvo too I think, seen a few crossing over…
So I’m guessing they are run by TNT themselves on their European runs.
Would be handy work running depot to depot I reckon. I used to know a couple of McKellars drivers doing similar work a few years back and they couldn’t fault the work.
I’m surprised knowing the way we run trucks in the uk they haven’t fallen foul of the “bums on seats” mentality and still have that “one driver” look that is so sadly missing in some of the wrecked big fleets.
the fh volvos run out of round spinney northampton to do european depot trunks some are double manned but all keep regular drivers and teres only about 8 motors run out of there owned by tnt iirc
