Alright?
I’ve been considering doing my CPC.
Trouble is I know the square root of not much about doing it.
All I can get from our TM is it’s a piece of ■■■■ and I’ll not struggle with it.
Can someone give me an idea what’s involved and if anyone has done it lately could I have some idea of cost please.
Thanks

I don’t think it matters which coat you wear
It’s the equivalent of an NVQ level 3 qualification, which is the equivalent of an A Level school exam. And you do it in nine days.
It’s definitely not “a piece of ■■■■”, your brain will seriously hurt by the end of the course, and everybody else on my course said the same.
It’s eight hours a day in a classroom for a fortnight followed by a day of exams, some multi-choice papers and some written scenarios, the pass rate is around 50%, as for cost somewhere between £1,000 and £1,300.
This is probably a good place to start

but if you have any more questions then feel free to ask and I’m sure we’ll all to our best to help- good luck!
I would advise taking a coat. When I did it all the windows were open and everything. Seriously though it is far from a piece of ■■■■. I studied at home for 12 months then went and did 10 days with the RHA in Bradford. Passed first time but it was not easy.
Definitely not easy, there was a lot of stuff I didn’t know, a lot of it I felt irrelevant but still had to learn, that’s difficult in its self. Cost was approx. £850 + VAT, you don’t pay VAT on all of it.
10 days long, plan on doing nothing else during that 2 weeks you’ll probably need to read a lot, my advice would be to book your course pay for it then ask the instructor for a full set of notes just reading those will help a bit.
I understand it has changed a bit in the last few years, we did H&S, employees rights, foreign worker requirements, we had to do dangerous goods, and safe loading restraint is proper ■■■■.
They only run the course 3 or 4 times a year Feb, June ish, November ish, I did mine Feb
As for coat, I didn’t bother just took a jumper as the whole course was in doors.
Ah ■■■■ the iPhone. Sorry about the coat. Clearly I meant cost but my phone is crap of ■■■■.
Thanks for the advice so far chaps
We knew what you mean’t about the coat, it was just funny.

Try your local college,I did mine in 2000,did it 2 nights a week for 13 weeks then sat the exam. They got us to use the friendberry books, which were over 100 quid, but it was worth it in the end.
Personally I found the exam piece of pish, as did everyone else who was there. The course work was quite daunting to be honest, I’d be coming home with my head spinning due to some of the subjects covered. I took the first of the new style ones in 2012, which may or may not have given me an advantage because the first set of exams can either be to easy or to hard and then get adjusted for the next lot if that makes sense. The plus point about the current format is that you can take your notes into the casework exam, so always have something to refer to, then there’s the multi choice which is fairly straight forward as the answers are there in front of you. I’d be quite interested to know the pass rate on the exam I sat and then subsequent ones there after.
Price was about £1400 but that included all my DCPC stuff as well.
I found the multi choice part, was the harder part. The case study was easy as all you had to do was look up the answer and remember not to give one word answer. one question on my paper was to give five reasons why one make would be better than different makes. I done mine in tts in nutts corner for £140 exam only and passed first time. have found that it doesn’t improve your employment chances in n.ireland

tell you what harry didn’t think I was that clever !!! made me feel good now…Failed mine on first attempt passed second time I think the trouble we have is that we are not meant for the classroom that’s why we mess with trucks …harrys right you will get all the help you need on here …good luck…
You post your opinion on this section of the forum regularly and now you admit to not holding a cpc and further more you know the square root of nowt.
I did the new all in one international ,yes my brain melted ,the multiple choice is fairly easy if you read the question s properly ,I found the case study very hard it all depends on what areas your good at and what case study subject you get on the day.
