tiredness

Eat an apple !!..don’t know why,but always perks me up no end…and I don’t even like them :unamused: (except in cider  )

How did you find that out, if you don’t like apples? Did you just start working through the fruit & veg stall or was it different foodstuffs too? :open_mouth:

I saw that about apples being more effective than coffee on a random fact twitter feed. Seems to work too! Could be all the natural sugar in apples compared to refined sugar/no sugar in coffee. Or could be a load of crap and it worked because I fell for it

Also as previously said, getting out and walking about on a 15 minute break really helps.

Shift work ■■■■■ and is bad for your health

Tired dry eyes? I discovered that pulling nose hairs out completely fettles that.

PMSL Do u try to do it without sneezing??

work days
but you can try this
its all back timing

start work time
go to bed 7/8 hours before work
do what you would after work hobbies shopping etc
do work
sleep

and repeat ad nauseum

I find putting the seat back and having a 15/20 minute power nap is the best thing

I tried this on the A38 on my way to fradley park one night, it didn’t turn out well.

have found eating or drinking something sugary can make a temporary difference things like sports mixture jelly babies keep you going till you can stop for a 10-15 min power nap really can make a difference

That’s quite a party trick - if you can do it whilst driving, and without tweezers:open_mouth:

Not when they’re as long as mine!

Driving tired has been compared to driving drunk, same level of concentration etc. I did a really early morning start on a drive to the south coast with two drops in London, by 6pm I was pulled over, card out and fast asleep. Couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer.

In a previous life,I was a squaddie, and let me tell you that there is nothing, but nothing, more tiring than driving a Bedford 4 tonner,in convoy,at 30mph,at night, across the wilds of Germany, staring at the same wagon rear, trying to maintain the correct vehicle spacing, hour after freaking hour … No driving regs for military back then :smiling_imp:
We were issued a brown paper bag containing cardboard sandwiches,a hard boiled egg,and an apple :unamused:
The apple was the only thing that was edible

Hello all,

How do you fight with the tiredness during your shift? Let’s say you could not sleep when you had your 45 minutes break. Does plenty of caffeine solve the problem?

You are obviously tired so sleep for an hour ■■■■■■■■ to transport, or carry on and kill yourself or some poor family in a car. sounds bad but it happens, its up to you. :unamused:

Hi sweeper1gg,

Do not get worried about myself being tired behind the wheel. I do not let myself to go sleeping when driving a lorry and I am concentrated at what I do at all times. I am worried about s h i t t y car drivers and some stupid cyclists around me.

No prob  if i do get tired i pull over and rest for a bit even just shut your eyes for 15 mins, i don’t care if transport query me i just say i am in control of the the truck, don’t tell me how to drive it. better to be safe then sorry.

Tiredness can kill! That’s a fact, I’ve seen it on Mway signs & matrix boards so its got to be true. The info on here is spot on regarding taking a nap. I woke up tired a couple of weeks ago so I had another hour as recommended, got woken up by a call from work saying don’t bother coming back, result, I now get plenty rest & I’m not tired anymore.

Careful with quoting tiredness can kill though. I said on another thread regarding speeding that speed kills and I ended up getting told I was an idiot for swallowing the government BS because if it did “every single person on an aeroplane would die” :unamused:

Costa lotta do a Cortado, a small glass tumbler, quite strong.
Stirbuckets do a flat white.
Double espresso is the way to go.
Used to have Lattes, but all that milk churning away.

A couple of wraps of whiz and 2 cans of Red Bull will see you awake till Friday.

Does nowt for your pecker though Steve! A friend told me.

heard yerba mate or club mate teas kick nicely

Just have a tug on ya tallywhacker :grimacing:

You’ll still nod off soon after you bust…

Forgot to add…never take it to its conclusion !! :grimacing:

On the rare occasions I’m tired a costa Americano and a walk round sort me out
On the subject of transport office staff going mad at you stopping for a quick kip just tell them to knackers, its your life chaps.

Point taken. However I’ve covered myself by saying it’s a fact, if you say that on here then it’s gospel. Also it been scientifically prove, another fact if you will, that in 95% of accidents where the driver fell asleep tiredness was a factor. :open_mouth:
