leave the trailer at home…?
Is this some kind of MOT brake testing thing like IBCs on a trailer?
Looks like a big lump of steel to me, held on by two straps…?
What are your thoughts on this?

Close your eyes, imagine you’re an eighteen year old Trucker
Ignore your mirrors and screw everyone else as much as possible, bus’s, taxi’s and cyclists and dispatch riders all fair game, you will fit right in
Use a left ■■■■■■, it’s more fun!
The units got a towing hitch on the back, the steel will be ballast to get some weight on the drive axle.

Why? Is he worried the tractor will tip forward onto his windscreen when he brakes?
I’ve never seen it before. A big lump of steel STRAPPED doesn’t inspire confidence, but should I assume then that it has a kingpin / that it’s specially designed?
So the ballast is left in the yard in case he goes out without a trailer… wha’s he do with it when he picks up a trailer then?

Don’t go through pedestrian crossings until the light is green.
Get a camera.
It actually looks like the makings of a counterweight for a 360 excavator.
I always liked Luke’s top tip for London, something along the lines of “In London your going to upset people, just get on with it”.

And it’s ok to STRAP a 360 counterweight to a fifth wheel?

Like it!!
Never make eye contact.

IF it was just strapped, I wouldn’t take it.
If you look at this picture it must have a king pin for the fifth wheel. The straps would be there to steady the thing.
“DONT”
I [zb] hate the place. So many people are in such a hurry, Boy racer’s, Girl racer’s, lorry ban zones, night ban zone’s, day ban zone’s, time limits, camera’s every 2.5yrds, bus lanes, cycle lanes, ‘Friggin Don’t put a wheel in this lane’ lanes, weight limit’s, height limit’s, length limit’s, width limit’s, speed camera’s, bus lane camera’s, traffic light camera’s, congestion camera’s, low bridge’s, weak bridge’s, blah, blah, blah.
I reckon all lorry drivers should drop all their loads at Staples corner, South Mimms, Hobb’s Cross M25/M11 junction, M25/A13 roundabout, A2/M25 roundabout, M20/M25 junction, M23/M25 junction, M3/M25 junction, M4/M25 junction, M40/M25 junction & leave 'em in the middle of the roundabout, then tell all the ‘Cockneys’ to collect it themselves.

Just remember they put all the knob heads in there so you know what to expect!

i really enjoy driving in london, its good fun. I never use to like it but have quite abit of experience there now (not nearly as much as some people on here thoguh) and find it alot easier. The trick in my opinion is to plan ahead the night before if you can or if you get a reload there half way though the day just stop for 5-10mins and read your map, go on google etc, it will save you more time in the long run.
I worked at a company where people would say, “i dont do london” and the response they’d get back is, “well your not much good to us then are you”… And its true.
Quite enjoy it…The driving is slightly different to the rest of the country…I have a E17 then reload purfleet for N8…
Tips are dont get stressed, just sit back and enjoy the scenery…
Driving in London is whatever you make it out to be.
On the rare occasion I’m in a hurry I find it a pain, however if I’ve got no time pressure then it can be great fun, with some great footpath scenery if you get my drift.
It’s all about YOUR mindset tbh, chill and relax and you’ll love it.
proper maps vis a vis
A-Z master atlas
A-Z motorist map of London
Collins bridge height map
and a sat nav for the longish runs thru the suburbs
as has been said plan ahead ask advice about tips
the north is easier than the south
avoid if you can doing the north and south
unless your on a night out

The words CAT and JCB on the back of the cab make the type of work it does obvious.
The unit has probably been hooked up to the front of another unit to assist with the towing of a big load, common in heavy haulage.
