“Pictures from the scene show that the lorry which was towing the truck is nowhere to be seen - and it is unclear how the truck came to be in a position to get stuck in the first place.”
It looks very clear me !
THE BODY WAS UP !!!
I bet the driver just hoofed it down to Tilbury & shoved a container on the ‘Skelly’ LOL.
I wonder if he had just tipped at Procon, a readymix site about half a mile from the bridge.

It seems to say that the tipper body,Which is all that is seen in the pic),is called,“The truck”,and the rigid vehicle is,“The lorry”.
To folk that know what they’re talking about,I would say it’s some tipper driver in a rush,(When weren’t they?),driving with the tipper body still raised,or am I talking bollix too ?
Just shows the driver had not used his mirrors since tipping to me.

That looks like a 40 ft body to me, that’s why I said he’d probably Hoofed it to Tilbury for a box, because all he would have been left with was a Skeleton Trailer, LOL. (He was probably wearing a Stetson Hat as well !)
Journalists are as thick as ■■■■/lazy, don’t know the first thing about transport, they’re forever mixing up the make & models of every type of vehicle that they report on, perhaps they should try to consult professionals when they come across a Juicy Story, instead of making half of it up, then ■■■■■■■ off to the pub !
The tipper was being towed and the recovery vehicle seems to have scarpered.
