The first break you need to do si after You exceed 4,5h of driving or 13h of work you have to make an 11h break in the simplest way and there are some more excepctions. Greets.
Cant you ask to start an hour earlier , That way you would be able to get a 45 min break in before your 1st drop . Your delivery windows would not be disturbed ,and you would return to base at the same time & all legal. As Wheelnut has already said your getting payed 2 hours for nothing anyway.
I’m trying to do what I can, and that does sound like a good idea
Wouldn’t make a habbit of it, one off to get you out of the crap maybe but not everyday. I’m not surprised your in this situation, only takes a couple of drivers who are happy to do 56 on single carriage ways and tip on break then the planners assume that everyone else who plays by the law is hanging it out.
Easy one this. Don’t manually tip while on breaks…agree with Rog -say you’ll be happy to oblige if they put it in writing all the illegal stuff they want you to do…they won’t,so you won’t have to do it.
25k ain’t any use to you if you ain’t got a licence…I’ve heard about vosa making spot checks outside depots etc a few times.
There is always a learning curve between wanting work, not trying to annoy the company or ‘their plan’ yet staying within the law.
Good idea is to stay safe and legal. But keeping the boss happy often doesn’t work. There is always something to moan about. Try and keep below their radar

Let us know
Just before xmas the company got rid of all its agency drivers. However, I do agree about not running bent in any way and found places that I could take my break during the duty without causing problems, such as at the last drop before the run back. Coped and survived but the carrot they dangled was a temp to perm on 12 quid per hour on class 2.
When asked they expected me to run on the limiter everywhere. Single carriageway, motorway roadworks etc.
the way I do it is if I’m in mt cab while being tipped then yea is a break otherwise its a big no no!!! As other have said ask your company to put it iin writing what they want you to do, I’ll put a weeks wages on it they soon change there minds. I know in some parts of europe the police go into RDC’s and check the drivers in there and what their tacho’s are set to it wont be long and they be doing the same over here.
As long as you stay below 4.5 hours driving I wouldn’t worry too much as no one is really bothered with the WTD and if you have the odd shift with over 6 hours work the worst punishment will be a bit of education should it come to light.

Companies are clamping down on this now. For example my company will put it down as a tacho infringment if you go over 6 hours without a break and I’m sure VOSA will start to frown upon it soon.
It was more that the run there and back was dead on 4 1/2 hours so any delay even by minutes I wouldn’t make it up and run out of time minutes from the yard! Literally!!!
And other thing is how You taking Your break, because the break means that You dont drive the car, some people rest by sitting some people rather rest active, i think It
s even better then siiting by the wheel on break becouse You can get better with Your cardio, and catch some air. Its just my thinking. And I
m always trying to thik safe.
