Tipping Ash.

Has anyone ever shifted ash on a bulk tipper? Just wondered what it’s like I.e heavy/light, sticky etc. Are there any do’s and dont’s to consider when loading/tipping etc??

Cheers
Matt.

Keep the buck dry by leaving sheet over until ready to load. Helps stop the ash from sticking. I used to run bottom furnace ash into Lignacite near Harlow but we did that in the summer so usually the ash flowed out easily.

Ok mate. So is it heavy or light and does it make a mess of your trailer?? I’m mainly on grain/feed so trailer is absolutely gleaming.

Matt

Depends if it off the Stock pile. Wet it sticks like s@it to a blanket, dry no problems just a quick brush out

Can you carry ash on a foodstuffs trailer? Just asking because I was told that a food tipper can carry aggregate but not recycled aggregate.

Depending on where you are loading from some plants you can set the mix up ,best asking someone in front of you how they have it if they done it before .

Like all have said depends on whether it if fly ash, conditioned ash, off stockpile etc etc. Also on where you are tipping. Wet ash can stick like a nightmare. Some plants who get regular deliveries have the tip inside posts for that very reason…

We do a fair bit of coal in the powder form from immingham, it’s dirty stuff dry or wet & the trailer normally needs a wash out before next load

Is it for Celcon blocks in Borough Green by any chance? They have a designated tipping trough with hoses so you can wash the trailer out as your tipping.

Yeah that stuff sticks in lol especially if you load it from the hopper in the power station
Yeah like others have said a dry body is best to load it on!

Some of the ash gets treated to become non toxic so Gunnerheskey told me .

They should be named and shamed and reported. Don’t like reporting petty things but it boils my ■■■■ when I’m paying £400 per year for assurance and these cowboys get away with it!

Didn’t do the job anyway the rate was appalling.

What does that TASCC accreditation entail? Often wondered…
