If you can survive becoming a chef you can survive anything

One day soon you’ll get the ‘light bulb moment’ on your reversing and after that you’ll wonder what you were so worried about

Possibly because I am female I find the women so much ruder and ill-mannered than the men in transport. Of course, that’s only my experience so may not be the same for you.

I have 2 views on that. I think the women in the industry have felt they’ve had to harden up to fit in with the men and maybe over do it on the matcho rudo grumpy attitude. Not all women though. Secondly maybe you have an easier time with men because you’re a woman?. Maybe. I can get on with anybody, male or female. Im not sexist. I think I maybe get on better with women in general. Unless they work in a Hanson site near pateley lol

Oh and I hope the lightbulb moment happens soon lol

Years ago … before days of Sat Navs where you can save destinations, I used to have an A-Z card-index box with addresses / directions for EVERY place I delivered / collected from … also used to add notes about opening times / if they had shower / canteen … also if any PARKING available near.

Sorry been a couple of days since I looked on here. Been all over so far this week. No day the same. Mon was 1st day on me own. Was at tarmac at Skipton, Bradford, Leeds. Just aggregates. Yesterday was similar. Today we’d, Pilkington to tip off and went to Hull to a farm to load with rapemeal. On way back to Masham to tip off. Its coming slowly. Feeling a little more relaxed each day. Learning all the time. Found today that after I’d took my sheet off, that I wouldnt be allowed on site with it off. So had to leave site and put it back on. Bit embarrassing, but suppose it’s all part of learning. I like learning but hate feeling like a numpty lol

Was that Stuart saunts for the rapemeal??

Hey guys and gals.

I need help. I’ve just done my first week with a trainer on class 1 tippers. Now I know it should be straight forward, you go to a quarry get loaded, go to somewhere else and tip. But my head is so scrambled right now with so much information that I’ve gone into a blind panic mode. I go out on Monday on my own for first time and I feel overwhelmed in my head. I can’t remember one quarry from the next.

1st question…when you enter the quarry empty, Do you go straight onto the weighbridge To get your tare weight? I seem to remember going to a Hanson site and I can’t remember for the life of me going straight onto the weighbridge. Only when got loaded.

I get that when you get to a destination, you go straight onto the weighbridge, they weigh you then you tip then go back onto weighbridge to see how much you have tipped and get your ticket.

This is not my area of driving (and I am a very new driver) but I would say that every driver I have asked for advice has been great with giving good advice. maybe best speaking to the guys (and girls) that know the ropes. I’m sure they will help you out.

just remember if you do something wrong ,its happened a 100 times before !!and as long as no one or anything is hurt/damaged jobs a good un you may even get a nickname out o it lol. Just remember trying to tip a three way tipper with one pin in is painful to watch edit …also painful when regular driver finds out what you did to his “baby” hehe
