this lot seem to be expanding fast, they have taken over the shropshire and cheshire council contracts and apparantley ordered lots of new vehicles
I used to deliver to them (RINGWAY) years ago when they did work in the Warwickshire area, I think that they were Cardiff based at that time. Good gangs, got on with the job and black clouds didn’t put them off working!
Pete.
I like those Ross Hillman 6w midlifts; I know traction isn’t as good but I’ve asked our lot to try one with a lightweight alloy body for private jobs. I’ve seen some with 15-16 ton payloads at 23 odd ton gross…My suggestion has so far been ignored.

no bonkey its still open, breedon aggregates own it now but its not as busy as it used to be
Bit of an odd one this, would love to know the wherabouts of it. Temporary tar plant and high sided tipper not suitable to loading tar!
That Atkinson body looks a bit flimsy; No good for muck, not a proper tarmac body and looks too low for grain/feed…Lime carrying?

Where it’s parked maybe it had just tipped aggregate in the bays behind.
Could be loading dry stone, we used to load dust through our tar plant. The sign for 1/2 " WHIN leads me to think that it is Whinstone which I believe comes from the Teesdale area so the quarry may be in that region?
Pete.

Could just be cleaning the plant out with a dry load.

Here’s what it used to look like - it’s actually a 6-wheeler (‘Searcher’) with an exra axle under it. When I photographed it in the early 80s, I thought it was destined never to run again, so I was amazed to hear reports of it out and about in the early 90s as an 8-legger, though I never actually saw it at work in that guise
