I’ve been offered a job (without applying) back on tippers (class 1)

I’m on fridges and it’s alright. But that’s all it is.

Pros of the current job

Decent conditions
Decent money
Decent dedicated medium horse power lorry

Cons of the current job

Away all week
Weekended away 2 weekends a month
Same route
Fridges

Pros of tipper job

Tippers
Better money
Better conditions
Better boss (known him all my life)
Better lorry (newer cleaner more horses nicer colour)
Home 3 nights a week
Not weekended away ever
Occasional lash up sponsored by gaffer

Cons of tipper job
Endless waiting
Tippers
Not as clean
Irregular hours (constant wage)

Any advice gratefully received

I went back on to nights fella best time for driving

If you hadn’t put that second post about tippers being nights I’d have said it’s a no brainer, go for the better money! Tbh I’ve never given a ■■■■ about the bendy bit behind me, I’d pull a forty foot fluorescent ■■■■■ behind me if the money was right!

I guess the question would be hour for hour which job gives you the most home time, or more importantly, which job makes you look forward to going to work the most?

TT, as others have said, fridge tom isn’t the same. I too think you’ve made your mind up. Working nights and going home most days is still better than working days and still not being at home every night?
As for the down time, you have been posting less on here since starting the fridges.

I’ve been flat out since starting on fridges.

Up early and finishing late.

I like the work and I don’t have a problem with the hours. Not really had time to do anything beyond work, clean lorry, eat, clean self and sleep.

The weekending a hundred miles from home is the thing that’s made me want away from it.

Bored off my nut in a layby whilst my mates are in the pub.

On tippers yes I’ll be away 3 nights a week but I’ll be home the rest of the time.

Yes the lorry gets dirty but there’s time to clean it.

Yard is closer to home too.

Handing my notice in tomorrow so I imagine there will be a job there in a fortnight

Fridges are too noisy IMO & it sounds like your away more often than not at the moment.

I knew I was going on tippers but put this up in case you lot could come up with anything glaringly obvious I’d not thought of
