Time to get the guns out

okay gents, it’s time to name and shame. who have you delivered to and been refused because you are late. not because they are closed, but because you are late and the load has to be re-transported and planned, but which doesn’t upset their carbon foot print (God I ■■■■■■■ hate that expresion, it’s called tax), but causes firms millions a year in storage, fuel wages etc. it has happened to me and when i asked who took my slot was met with vacant expretions similar to a puppy who had just been smacked for ■■■■■■■ on the carpet

It’s not happened to me in the nearly 28 years I have been doing this so no one to name and shame.

It’s never happened to me either. At the end of the day if they didn’t want the stuff they wouldn’t have ordered it so they always tip you in the end even if there is a lot of grumbling as they do it.

Paul

GM2 at Leicester. Got there half hour late a coue of months back due to a bad smash on the M1. Refused to tip me and four others despite loads of free bays.

who cares aint my goods and paid by the hour

I went one to a small Company in swiss one Day early.
I had to wait :exclamation:
I asked “Why?” The Lady said “Your Delivering is planed for tomorrow 11.00!”
Just a few Pallets and nowhere to go

Its not rocket science !! 24 hrs early, if they’re busy you wait.

quite a few places refused for being late, the last one was Russell Hobbs in Wombourne, they knew what time i was going to get there, they said ok to it, when i got there, they refused it saying i was late :unamused:

Yep just last week at Great Bear Desborough

Had a 10-30am booking and got there at 10-40. Big queue backed up to the roundabout and it was 11-15 before I got to the booking in office.

Greeted with the words “You’re too late pal you’ll have to rebook”!

I was very calm

B+Q Stevenage, 10 mins late, wouldn’t tip me. Said I had to re-book. Got another slot for 1 hour later. I sat and watched the lads in the yard sweeping up and pratting about with nowt to do for an hour before they’d tip me (6 pallets).

There were no other deliveries in that time.
Nob heads.

Thats just silly making you wait and they had nothing else on, they must get a kick out of it or something.

Iceland Queensferry. Had to take the load back 120 miles. Happened on an almost daily basis for weeks on end at one point. To be fair it was 3hrs late every time because the planners at RB decided I was taking it instead of the day shift so I was actually starting work just before it was due to be delivered. I’d turn up at the gate, hand the security guard the note, he’d phone through, say it was rejected and stamp it, I’d do a U turn, drive out the place, radio through to traffic who told me to take it back. Utterly ridiculous.

I had a delivery into a craphole in Greenford, I think it was a Wincanton site? It was in the run up to Christmas, aload of booze for their client the John Lewis Partnership. I was late as I’d been given the job well late, think it was an 11am booking and I got there just before 2pm. The bulldog behind the jump, female variety, seemed to take an excess amount of pleasure in telling me they had rebooked it for 1900, 5 hours later. Not much use to me as I needed to be back in Thurrock for 2100 latest. The office were informed and their instructions were to wait there whilst they tried to negotiate an earlier tip.

There was some traffic going in and out but not loads so I think they could have squeezed me in if they wanted to but I wasn’t giving much of a ■■■■ cos I was on hours and whatever happened I was going to be where I needed to be at 2100. The word came back from the office to give it until 4pm. At quarter to 4 I went in to see what the lay of the land was and the bulldog again took pleasure in telling me it would be 7pm before they started me, almost spitting the words out. At precisely 4pm I called the office who told me to pull out. Back in to see the bulldog to request the return of the paperwork I’d handed in earlier and suddenly she was very keen to get me tipped straight away! Oh dear I thought, it looks like her customer is not going to be happy if she doesn’t get this load tipped! Smelling blood now I repeated my request for the bulldog to return the paperwork which was practically thrown at me and she wasn’t smiling now!

Sometimes, I think there is a God! :grimacing:

Been to a few places where I’ve been late and they’ve been ‘You’ll have to wait for a spare booking slot’, no probs mate, I’ll be outside asleep / watching lappy / on tinterweb etc, giz a knock when you’re ready, not normally an hour before I’m done tbh.

Had a couple of loads ‘rejected’ for being late whilst doing agency on stobby’s, but a call to customer services and it’s all ok and tipped (probably products given for free or dirt cheap to free up trailer for reload)

Never really bothered me, take enough gear to be happy in my cab, so they can tell me to sit in the cab all day long if they want, easier than driving

HIya … i went to a carpet place 10 years ago nr the medway bridge, i was there for 10 ish, the lad said no deliveries today
