Timber Carrier Drivers - Salary

Specific question, but please feel free to chip in if you have a worthwhile input!

If you’re hauling logs (Stobarts, AW Jenkinson, John Miller et al) how is your salary structured? Are you on a day rate with guaranteed days per year? An hourly rate? Do you get a bonus for hauling a certain tonnage per week? Or the number of drops per week?

And of course the killer question, what would the rate band be for a newbie through to an old sweat?

If anyone else can chip in with the rate for Class 1 plus HIAB on general haulage, that might also help.

Cheers all.

ALL of the above  I was on by the hour, some get a basic plus percentage of lorries earnings/tonnes moved/loads done (delete as applicable),rate obviously depends on experience and experience and competence take a while, but if your a good operator you can walk into a better job, good timber men are usually in short supply, there are a million and one things to learn, idiots get found out quickly in that game and it usually ends in very expensive tears
