Not so sure its down to cheap imports. It’s only this year it’s gone dramatically quiet plus if it was that expensive we wouldn’t be still exporting the stuff!

It is cheap imports all down to the strength of the pound against the Euro, and it depends what we are exporting (not a lot) I think Sweden/Norway etc have a ban on growing non native species so if they have to import it from us if they want it.

The downside is that it’s a lot of the work for going Scotland to England and then bringing construction materials up, everyone is struggling to get down but plenty work up the way so eventually it’s going to start effecting the construction industry being unable to get materials

20,000 ton of sawn timber has/is being shipped from Corpach to Tilbury for export this year with an estimated 50,000 ton going during '16. The only wood mills who have full production on the Scotland west coast are the paper producers and the fuel pellet production companies, construction places are feeling the pinch.
