Thurrock to Croydon

The approved route following London lorry ban.

You’d think getting off at the a21 would be fine and going down the a232.
Seems like a lot of unnecessary miles.

The routes get even more silly when i have deliveries in West London.

Can’t make head nor tail out of it.

We do an early drop to new Addington.the night time route takes us through a residential area.

Oh…and then there was the time I took a wide load to the dome.
Route order took me through Lewisham town centre :unamused:

To be honest I go to Croydon a fair bit and that is probably the best way. There’s not much in it either way.

The supermarkets in particular have RTCs quite close to one another and shops as well, but they have totally different routes to the same area. You wait for two or three drops at the weekend. You have to return to approved roads so: Anerley Hill Crystal Palace to Elmers End.

Return to South Circular via Croxted rd, Follow South Circular to Catford and take A 21 south as far as Beckenham Hill rd and take BHR as far as Beckenham Junction and turn right past the station. Over roundabout past Beckenham Hospital on Croydon rd and delivery is one and a half miles from your start point.

I can’t recall from there to West Wickham but it was either retrace steps to South Circular and follow A20 and M25 to J4 and then the A232 or all the way round the M25 to the A23 and then via Croydon and the other way along the A232.

Ye, hopefully others will post examples of other ones.
This route adds like 15miles on the journey though

If you know London, 15 miles doesn’t necessary mean longer.

I often have to go to Croydon from Polhill Garden Centre. I’ve been the shorter in miles route and taken longer.

And it depends on the day

30 miles extra on round trip though.

It’s not the worst though just unnecessary extra miles imo.

If anyone got better examples feel free to tell us. :grimacing:

Where is Geoffrey, if he doesn’t know this we are all doomed.

I bet he can get the indigenous Henry Ford, Italy and his Jaguar into this conversation

I am surprised none of the big firms have taken London lorry control to court .The more miles you do the more emission your vehicle
give out it dosen’t make sence to keep the llc.

Not quite 30 miles out of the way for me because after Croydon I have to go to N1.
