was touching cloth last friday morning bout 6.30am with my driving hours just wondering those who may have done this run which is quicker M25,M1 (Junc30) or M25,M11,A14,A1,A57 (Worksop Bypass) ,A619 i chose M1 had to extend to 10 and made it with 10 mins to spare, luckily only got caught in traffic for the m25/a10 junction and luton was clear, is there much difference timewise?

personally I would do M25, M1 … but depends on time of day
ok il bear the 14 to m1 in future if theres probs on the roads as well
M11, A1 A14 is another good route but traffic road works time of day … good job you was only touching cloth horrid to sit in it !!
well i made it to leicester forest in time for that
I’d go M25, M1 and keep your foot planted lol. If your empty back it will be quicker and if you know where your going this time you wont waste any minutes. I’d start as early as you can because it will start getting busy after the M11 pretty much all the way to the M1 turn off, again costing you minutes.
i did a pick up at p&g thurrock so was loaded but il take all the advice in. just didnt know if theres much difference whichever way you go
I don’t think there is much difference in time. Personal preference would take me up the M11, but only after I’d listened in on the traffic news. One hold up on either route and it could turn into a long day.

According to google maps, going around Worksop is 5 miles shorter, but it says its 12 mins longer! which I can’t see really, there’s only half a dozen roundabouts to slow down for, so I would say its down to personal preference. For me M11 everytime, unless theres problems that way!
If i hadn’t heard of any traffic probs, i’d go M11/A1 route and scoot round Worksop.
Use to do Silvertown from Buxton everyday and going the A14-M11 route took on average 15mins longer each way, plus if something goes belly up on the A14 your basically stuffed. M25-M1 all the time.
have i missed something ? thurruck to chesterfield 9hrs 50 mins, did you get out of 1st gear

You’ll have an overall higher average road speed on motorways.
If I’m going to tilbury I always go A1 M11. Loads faster. You’ve got miles of roadworks just past Leicester forest.

Speed limits on single carriage A roads vs DC/motorway.

Howden to Lakeside Retail Park West Thurrock only used to be 3hr 20 on a night and that is when the A1 was DC all the way with all the roundabouts including the three at Peterborough which are now a 4 lane motorway. Add another 15-20 minutes on for going M1 way.
Oh the joys of P & G West Thurrock lol used to be a good set of lads and lasses on nights in the little portacabin, but the queue to get in there sometimes was a right royal pain in the arse. Would use the M11, A1 route myself purely on the fact that you get off the m25 lot quicker seems miles and miles on M25 round to M1 and so very very boring!
