Thumbs up for Wales

I was multi dropping all along the south and north coast, loveley scenery, and very decent people at every drop, they all went of their way to wait for me after closing times, that would not happen in England,a lady called in her son,who lives a mile up the road to give me a hand unloading.
Then while pulling in to a yard at 20.30,a guy was coming out and said he would unload me there and then,i was on a roll with some good luck, all day being offered coffee or tea,and every client asked where i was going to next.
They would point me in the right way, offering some tips and local knowledge.Makes a change to be treated like a human being, and not something that has climbed out of a sewer pipe wearing a wife beater white vest.
Lots of castles to look at while admiring the views, windy roads in the valleys, and not one premises asked me to wear a high viz do not knock me down safety bib and vesty thing.Very laid back, for a change.

Yeah, I agree, and that feels wrong.

I did a lot of Wales yesterday Dolgellau, Dyffryn Ardudwy, Harlech, Pwllheli, Blaenau Ffestiniog and lastly Colwyn Bay.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, took lost of pictures, sure beats the M6 that’s for sure, although today I saw a weird thing, in a farmers field - kinda like a horse shoe sticking out of the ground with a cyclist on it.

wales has some of the best scenery in the country, here`s one i took near the brecons, the weather was rubbish but have never seen so many poppies.

That is Snugbury’s ice cream farm on the A51, they always have a big sculpture in the field, the last one was a big meercat, lol

Yeah, I remember the meerkat on there, but was more impressed with this 1 today.

Once I get the bloody missus off the lappy, I’ll post some snaps from my jaunt around north / west Wales the other day, they’re crappy quality and half the castle may be chopped off by big daft DAF quarter windows lol

Half our workforce are Welsh, they cross the border to earn a living, some of the ex pit places are just falling apart, no jobs etc.One lad drives 90 minutes too work and everybody respects him for doing that, top bloke.Always smiling but wears a Welsh rugby top all the time :imp:

Joking aside, some areas in the UK are really struggling atm !

Another cool Welsh work of art…

I engage in the usual sheepshagging banter, but I love Wales, and for an evening meal you can’t beat a bowl of cawl and a lump of cheese!

I particularly have fond memories of the huge graffiti on the bridges near Carmarthen saying ‘English go home’ … nice people

I’m English, have lived in Carmarthen for ten years, never had a moment’s grief with the “indigenous population”; if you come down here to work, and don’t try to rock the boat as soon as you move in, you’re fine.*

  • This of course goes completely out of the window (as can chairs, tables, bodies and a few other things) during the Six Nations, otherwise known to the Welsh as the World Cup.

So, what’s the difference between a “full english” and a “full welsh” breakfast?

I’ve seen it advertised when I go to Wales, but never tried it.

Totally agree with all that’s been said…had a tip at Harlech Foods just west of Criccieth on Tues/Wed…enjoyed every minute of the trip, till i crossed the Severn again

Same here, I’ve lived in Wales for about 12 years. I’ve not once had any troubles about my nationality. I always wear my England tops too

here are the past snugburys sculptures… Sculptures - Snugburys

I don’t doubt it’s nice, I have worked on the shows at the county showground there a few times and spent many a happy night with lovely welsh girls … fond memories
All I was refering to was the hatred from a very small minority.

Their is no hatred now Pat, your dreaming of times gone by
I am English and have worked in North Wales for many years now, a lot of that for a family firm where I was the only person who did not speak welsh. Its a case of respecting other peoples way of life/traditions and customs wherever you go.
