Help newbiee - been banging my head on this one. got a late 90s scania that when been driving for 40 minutes the throttle gets stuck and the only way to release it is the pedal far left that seems to release air. Had a new throttle cable fitted and still the same, and ideas? Took it to scania kel trucks but no joy

Isn’t the pedal far left called the clutch? Seriously though, I’ve had this before… remove the plastic panel above the accelerator (you’ll need the tool kit) and check all the cables that run underneath aren’t rubbing on the metal…if so, just cable tie or tape them up a bit more outta the way…that’s all it took on my 54plate anyway. Can’t remember if you have to remove the right panel as well to get to the screws but it’s a quick job, 5mins should do it.

I think he means push the pedal to the left, as in sideways.
I hope
Bollox… was half asleep!! [emoji4]

Has it got any mechanical speed limiter type linkage at that age?
Give everything moving along the whole cable route a massive blast of WD40 particularly anything that pivots with a return spring.

Thanks for the reply I understand I sound like a school kid but Ive taken it to an engine rebuilder in stafford and twice to kel trucks. To help I have take a picture of the pedal which looks more like a switch on the floor. It appears to release air. I have take a photo of the plunger that it moves which reduces the revs but when you take your foot of the switch revs go back up BUT hold it for say 3 minutes it will finally set the revs to idling. Ihave replaced the whole acclerator cable and its got worse!
Photos show the actual plunger that moves when you put your foot on the switch decreasing the revs and the whole set up
I might be wrong but that’s an exhaust break
Hey that little button on the floor to the lh side is the exhaust brake switch. The air piston on the side of the engine that connects to your throttle cable is to control your limited. It sends air to the piston to prevent the revs increasing.
It’s most likely going to be the bracket beside the end of the cable as it normally rubs through and causes a issue.
In truth, I’ve never seen a Scania with a brake pedal of that size or (what looks like) an air vent by the left foot!
