Three-lorry crash closes M42 southbound in Worcestershire

Queuing traffic The southbound carriageway is closed and the northbound has long delays

The M42 southbound in Worcestershire has been closed between junctions two and three following a serious crash between three lorries.

James Hawkes from the Highways Agency said one of the HGVs was carrying a consignment of kitchens, causing a large amount of debris.

“It will be a complicated recovery, lasting until late morning,” he added.

A rolling roadblock is in place on the northbound carriageway to allow crews to clear the central reservation.

Mr Hawkes said although diversions are in place, traffic is very slow.

Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said it had rescued one driver who was trapped in his overturned lorry.

The crash happened at 01:30 BST.

This was still closed around 5am this morning, got of at J5 but 2-3 was still closed, looks nasty from the photos

CSI says after viewing what was left of the wagons being karted away that there was at least 2 lads that left us. Magnet wag & drag with no cab & a rigid with even less of a cab.

CSI says: same old story, not leaving enough room. (Disclaimer: this may or may not be the case).
