Three Consecutive Days Off?

I am on the first day of three forced rest days, which I have been told (by DriverHire) I have to take by law.

The reason I have been told is that I owe a day after taking reduced weekly rest a week or so ago.

I am aware that I have to pay the time back, however, does it have to run consecutive with this weeks weekly rest?

Eg. Mon + Tues = this weeks rest + Wed = paid back rest.

Could it not be;

Mon + Tues = this weeks rest + thur or fri or sat or sun = paid back rest?

The compensation for a reduced weekly rest has to be paid back en bloc by the end of the third week following the week in which the reduced weekly rest was taken.

As long as it’s paid back in one lump it can be added onto any rest period of nine hours or more.
So it can be added onto a daily rest period if you find that more convenient.

So no it doesn’t necessarily have to be added onto another weekly rest period, as long as it’s paid back in one lump by the end of the third week after the reduced rest week you’re OK.

Mon + Tues = this weeks rest + thur or fri or sat or sun = paid back rest?

As long as it’s within the time limit and added onto a daily or weekly rest period, the options you’ve given would be fine :smiley:

I thought as much.

I argued this point with the agency on the grounds that it didn’t sound right. I wasn’t entirely sure, but now that I know for sure I’ll be back on the phone to them.

Thank you for clarifying. :slight_smile:
