I can’t go into indepth detail at the moment, it is still being delt with.
I was at work one evening at the depot, & it was in a dark part of very full parking area, I could see that someone opposite was ready to pull forward in there vehicle, & as I didn’t want to hold them up, I pulled my vehicle straight forward, out of the way for them to pull out past me . I put the window down a way and asked can you get past?
I was met by a torren of very aggressive verbal abuse starting with [zb] & continuing with [zb] every few words for a time. He also threatened to hit me.
This is a work colleague. Needless to say I was frightened by the sudden, unnecessary aggression of incident, there was nobody around & a quiet dark place.
Now the new manager says his account of the incident is different from mine.
We had both spoken on different occasions to the new manager to say what happened, & I have now received the typed out details from my interview, which is not a true reflection of the incident, the new manager also was asking other things which were not relevant to the incident. I am supposed to sign this & return it for the next meeting. I won’t sign it as it is not correct.
the new manager has also left parts out, wording things a bit different & written it to put me in bad light !!
The new manager also asked in the first instance if I had recorded it !!!
Has anyone else had this or similar problem , or can shed any light on this type of situation please.
I am a none aggressive person who treats people with respect.
I have also has previous problems with this new manager before , as was on this forum last year.
Don’t sign anything you’re not happy with.
If you are in the right, stick to your guns no matter what. If you’re telling the truth stick with your story 100%and it will always be the truth.
Sooner or later the people that lie, and adjust elements of the truth will trip themselves up. If i were you i’d keep a written record now of everything that happens from the initial incident and as the rest of it all unfolds. Don’t tell anyone, just keep a record of everything now, dates, times, everything
If they start getting really arsey and want to pull you in the office for chats, or over anything else, ask to have someone independent present and of your choice, at all times.
If it’s wrong don’t sign it, but as it’s your word against the others and no witnesses I doubt much will come of it.
It’s on record let it go, but by the sounds of it you need to watch your back from both the other driver and your manager.
If you have a dash cam it’s worth keeping the voice recording switched on just for this kind of incident.
As above do not sign anything your not happy with, then his manager/boss will ask why it’s not signed.
One of the hardest lessons to learn in life, is you can’t like everyone, and everyone can’t like you. If you are a decent guy, this may be even harder to understand. You say you have had run ins with the TM before. And posted on here , maybe he’s read it also, and marked your card. I would’nt sign , just leave it to run it’s course, and watch your back. Could just be a storm in a tea cup.
If the account isn’t true, then do not sign it. If there is problem with that then you’ll have use another grievance process. But stick to your guns. Don’t give in if you feel you are right. Its not fair for you to feel bullied at work, man or woman.
Did you have a witness accompany you during the interview? If not then why not? At the risk of sounding very harsh your witness can take notes, can also verify the account as accurate, and be physical as well as well as moral support.
Whatever the outcome that will be the single most valuable lesson learnt from this episode. I hope you get a just decision though somehow it looks like your abuser has more allies than you at the moment and your manager, being new, may also being manipulated.

Thank you for your reply chilistrucker, thats good advice youve given me. I haven’t signed the pages they said to, as I say they don’t give a true refletion on the incident, I told the truth 100 per cent, & will continue to do so. I always tell the truth anyway as a matter of course. As you suggest it is a good idea to keep records of everything. The first meeting was to investigate this is where they took minutes, this is also where it does not give the true reflection of the incident, worded by them to be condeming to me.

Thank you for your reply Drift, and for your idea. Yes they probably will ask why its not signed , & yes I will have to tell them that its not a true reflection of the incident.

Thanks for your reply snelly, in the first instance I’m a female, I just get on with my work & respect my work colleagues & all people whether they like me or not. its quite possible that he had my card marked as soon as he took over as manager, I am pretty sure work does use this forum , I have nothing to hide and have told 100 per cent truthof the Incident. However I cannot put up every detail like I said on the first post of this thread. It waz in the first case said to be an investigatory meeting first & possibly a a disaplinary.

Thank you for your repy f-reds, I wont be signing it. It was a totally unprovoked incident. It’s even more horrible where it has happened ,& by a work colleague.
surely everybody has the right to go to work safley at their own depot.

Thank you for youy reply Wiretwister, the only witness was an in office bod , taking notes. The new manager took over last year although was working in the office before hand. And was tryingto victimise me when he took over .

I agree it’s a very serious incident, but you didn’t have any witnesses, so it’s your word against theirs, and I don’t see what action the company can take against your aggressor, but don’t sign until you’re happy with the statement and sounds like you need to take somebody into any meetings you many have in the future. You will also have a record in case anything similar happens.
My experience of similar things are the aggressor will trip themselves up, but they are normally cunning so it takes some time, normally when they believe they are to clever to get caught.
When he does trip himself up there is a record of incidents towards you in the past and the company can’t brush the incident off as a one off and should take disciplinary action.
As for watching your back, have a recording device ready in case you get into a situation again, and if you have allies at work when possible get them to “lurk” when you aggressor is around, preferably just out of sight.

Does your company grievance/disciplinary process allow for you to be accompanied at investigation meetings? If so you should have been advised of that fact so as to able to find a companion of your choice. By not doing so the investigating manager has broken the companies own process. How you want to proceed depends largely on whether you see your future with this company or not. If you want to stay, and have the guts and fortitude to face a lot of pressure then you will have to go above the investigating managers head. If it’s away then start looking for a new position, watch your back in the mean time.
If you are in a union, even if company does not have a recognition arrangement speak to them, if not citizens advice can help. Be in no doubt YOU ARE BEING BULLIED if you don’t address it your well being will suffer. If you are the only female in the company the bullying could be because of your gender being seen as a softer target. Good luck you are going to need it

Thankfully I am usually only in the yard a short while , then out driving. Although I may have to work closely with him in the future at some stage.
just a thought, ask around if other drivers have also had problems with this individual,i would think that not many if any would back you up but its worth a try

The great advantage of being a truck driver, you can get away from your work colleagues. stay strong I had to wait ages for the nasty little ■■■■ to trip himself up, he was basically trying to get me out one way or another so he could have my job. Tripped himself up by losing it in front of a company director.
