Yesterday I had to deliver to J E Hartley at Thorganby. Coming from the south past Selby on the A19 I turned right onto the A163 and then turned left to go up Cornelius Causeway which is the way I have been before, as I made the corner I noticed a nice shiny 7.5 ton weight limit sign. So I have been trying to find another route to get there but every where seems to have a weight limit, anybody got any ideas.

I have been there once, i came in from the north from A19 @ Escrick ,I probably left via that road as i was going south don’t recall seeing any weight limits on those roads , can’t really see any reason either
Sounds like you’ve gone the best way to be honest. You can come off at Escrick and cut through towards skipwith from there but it’s just as easy to get in off the A163. The sign would probably say “except for access” which will clear you to go down there as you’re accessing the factory.
Matt
Whenever I’ve gone, I’ve usually come in from Selby side off A163, and up through Skipwith.
I’m sure there was a notice up at our yard saying that there was a new weight limit (which the local residents will be monitoring!) and to now come in off A19 through Escrick.
I’ve once gone in through Wheldrake, and Thorganby, apparently that’s a big no no!
Thanks for the fast replies, I can see no reason for the limit but it doesn’t say except for access how ever the route through Escrick does. Having said that if I need to go again I think I will go the same way.
How sad that some people have nothing better too do than monitor trucks , get out there and enjoy yourselves
Phone em up and ask them. I’ve been in there myself but not for many a year and I know they had a route they preferred drivers to use.
