This will make you laugh, Nimby story, mud on the road

fuse:
If the powers that be could push the safety angle to this site mess may be we could get a better deal as in central tipping points ie hard level ground bays for each material ect. This could be picked up or loaded into a dumper and taken exactly to the point where needed this would prevent site damage and injury to site workers the benefits to the site and all concerned would be a big plus .

+1

Road wheels for roads, off road wheels for the muddy bits

On small sites like I do, the above is complete nonsense.

Just into my second week on the tippers. And an observation i’ve made is that of all the building sites i’ve visited so far the only one that actually had a wheel wash (labourer with a jet wash) …was in a well to do area.

+1 very few I visit haven’t got wheel washes either!

Well they don’t want their big fancy 4x4s getting dirty now do they? That just won’t do!

Sounds about right, I’ve had it twice!
Once on a prestigious new estate, and once delivering ADR to a poultry nursery.
Tarquin is allergic to road dust!

Tarquin would have a fit then if he ever sees the interior of our 360; Mud and dust have been left in there for so long that shoots have started sprouting.
My cab’s not that bad. Not yet anyway.

Building sites need a roadsweeper and a truck wheel wash ,but they cost money££££££

And its all profit these days :open_mouth:

If the said vehicles are spreading mud on the road presumably their spray suppression is clogged up with mud, and therefore the vehicles shouldn’t be on the road. He ought to get onto the DVSA and ask for them to monitor the vehicles leaving the site. Once a few tippers have had prohibition notices served on them I’m sure the bosses would come up with some solutions.

Is that a posh way to say “that there’s mud on the mudflaps”?
If everybody worried about mud like you there’d be no houses built and there’d be a food shortage. Just remember those nasty dirty lorries next time you use a new link road or visit a new shopping centre.
