This road sign?

I know what it means now but before 10am this morning I had no idea - Nice to learn something new (to me)

No ADR vehicles allowed ?

Have a look on the approach to the Dartford Crossing (signs present both directions, in case the Bridge is closed )

They even have a brief text description written below the symbol, although it’s hardly clear unless you already know what the signs mean!

Doesn’t that mean no TNT pallet trucks beyond this point? Ha.

I’ve seen it at Dartford too…am thinking it’s ADR related?

Warburtons :grimacing:

Tango boy only past this point?

Tell me this is a joke

Yep, I had to look it up recently as well, dont do ADR now but used to, and also attemped to use the dartford tunnel while carrying a haz load which is banned from the tunnel, well probably any road tunnel!

IF you cant use dartford with hazchem, how come they have a dedicated layby, and ■■■■■■ service exactly for that purpose.

It depends on the type of product going through there. For example, heating oil you can go through without an ■■■■■■ whereas petrol tankers must have an ■■■■■■. Propane tankers are not allowed through at all.

I’ve never seen that before either on road or in the Highway Code. Looks like it has been invented by a private company or summit. It’s actually a well designed sign, even without knowing the correct meaning you get the gist of it.

Invented in euroland, and been in force since 1st jan 2010.http://www.rha.uk.net/docs/internet/hazardousgoods/ADR%20Tunnel%20Guide%20July%202010.pdf
There has always been restrictions regarding ADR loads through tunnels, and unless you had the UN book you wouldnt know wether you could go through with that load until you went through the check point, I got turned away with a banned load at dartford, I did aquire one the books for future reference.

They have introduced a lot of new signs in the HC in the last few years and unless you are on the ball it is hard to keep up.
Regarding the Dartford tunnel when I used it regularly in the 80’s there was no real signs at all apart from something like Petrol Tankers pull in for ■■■■■■.They used to take 4 at a time,Do not know if it is the same now?
We carried heating oil as well as petrol diesel and kero but no matter what load we had on we had to be escorted.
Sometimes it was a right pain if there were 20+ vehicles waiting.
Of course there was no bridge then!

I wish they wouldn’t keep changing things as nobody tells me and then you come across something like this, but that’s progress!

Got one on the approach to the Clyde Tunnel. I probably wouldn’t have noticed it either had I not done my ADR a few months ago.

Due to be completed in 2015

gov.uk/government/speeches/ … -framework

gov.uk/government/publicati … icy-review

It’s supposed to make things easier

From what I have been told sign designers might as well start hanging themselves/ throw the towel in now

Can’t go thru a tunnel but perfectly OK to go thru a residential area
