Is is likely to be strictly enforced■■?
Tried not to go under the minimum 50mph on A roads today but tbh it’s been a struggle to keep upright on some bends ect…anyone else had the same problemCan’t wait till tomorrow to try and reach 50 on every A road, just remember it’s a target not a limit.
Yep ,flat to the mat, keep her lit and all the other bollox,
I was heading back from Basingstoke depot on the A33 just before midnight on Sunday…wound it up to a dizzy 52 from Stratfield Saye and stayed there till I hit the roundabout at the top of the by-pass several minutes later…can I take claim to being the 1st in the UK to legally hit the magic number?? I felt such a ■■■■■■■ superstar and even went in early tonight to brag to the others!

If you can’t do 56 on every road then you should be banned
56? Namby pamby. I remember the time before we had speed limiters where we’d be on the red line, 70MPH through the streets of the local town, people diving for cover…
70 !!! bloody poofter. Scotch booster down every hill, at least 85.
Yeh 80 85 down hill in Paddyoverdrive (neutral ) You had to hang on like a bloody rodeo rider depending on what pile of crap you were driving
and panic like ■■■■ if somebody pulled out in front of you to overtake as brakes were…optional then.
Arrrr the good old days.
Memories of askin a buddy to wait for me as I was stuck behind a tipper…
Not an SC on my route today (I have looked at them as an option) so looks like I’m still gonna be a 50mph virgin for a while, yet to embrace the flat out joy of catchin that sweet apex on the limiter whilst approaching nimby central…
Would legendary status go to the 1st driver doing 50 along cat and fiddle and/or the A515 towards Buxton■■?
Wouldn’t be me that’s for sure!!!
I did that route regular years ago at 50+ mph in places!! Mind you I was on a motorbike at the time
Just realised the thread title as well. New limits apply to all roads with national speed limit signs.

Be careful mate and I hope you have a thick skin. The picking up of a bit of sarcasm humour is lost to some on here if theres no smiley/laughing face at the end!
Bit rich from you Snowie given the numerous teddy and pram moments you’ve provided for everyone’s enjoyment…

Have you driven the new DAFs? They’ve included a “Scotch pedal” mode on the autobox. When you start going downhill it knocks it into neutral.
Went up to Glasgow today and as you cross into Scotland at Gretna the overhead tells you there are NO new speed limits in Scotland, and coming back the other way the overheads inform you that new speed limits are in operation in England.
As an aside, don’t do Scotch all that often, but I have never seen the Vostapo station open at the top of Beatock, but they were there today doing a roaring trade!

No chance dude. I was working Sunday night and was doing 40 until big Ben was making a racket and hit 50.

I hope you got a picture… The Scottish matrix signs saying something that could be informative to some!
Makes a change from the usual tripe they post on them.
very rare you see the coppers on the A34,but today they were there enforcing with their little van

Could someone please post it on here when they see a supermarket wagon doing the new 50mph
Well it certainly won’t be tesco, the toss pots can barely do 49…
For the OP you need to get your speed up to max, preferably on a steep hill, then, when you slow to 50 for the bends it will feel much slower and therefore far safer.
Well Im now proud to be a member of the 50mph Target club.
Having found a short stretch of SC / NSL A road that wasn’t to bendy I sat back and slowly but surely let her go to a speed I was comfortable with.
To my sheer delight this was 49mph and with one last bit of courage I lit her up to 50.
Im a little worried as I passed a speed camera and it didnt go off so might get a letter through the post for not acheiving the target speed.
Took a bit of a chance at a roundabout though as I tried to straighten the road out using all the lanes, may have dropped to 45 unfortunately as I got that feeling in me arse when you just know the limits of ones trailer stability have been reached. Sure I will get better with practice.

Followed a Tosco wagon today for about 5 miles on a nice stretch of single carriageway he managed 45.
