I think your title is way off the mark.He had problems in his life .Its not the job that tipped him over.
It says in the article he was a night driver, as a fellow night driver I can confirm that living your life in perpetual darkness for several months can really take its toll on your mental health. Couple that with living your life completely out of sync with the rest of the world and you can feel completely isolated. For some, that’s a perk of the job, for others it causes problems.
Regardless of the reasons, 23 is no age for someones life to end. RIP Drive.
.
Reading the article, the lad had some deep seated issues and problems.
I’m not sure if the job was actually a contributory factor, or even had any bearing.
I think it was more of the fact that he just happened to drive for a living tbh.
Tragic at that age whatever the circumstances.

I didn’t say it was just the job. As stated by yourself he had problems previously. Hence the title ‘job really doesn’t help’ not ‘job causes suicide’ ie it wasn’t just the job but it didn’t exactly help him being alone. If he’d been in a scaffolding crew etc having people around him all the time it may have helped him to talk about things and even potentially save him.
This is so awful, but what makes it even worse it not unusual, but people can come through it with proper help and a good support network of family and friends.
However like the OP said driving and especially night work might not be the best job to get the help and support, at least with large logistics companies where you know hardly anybody well enough to have a decent chat with them, you arrive at work dissapear in a truck and get back and go home, at least if you’re working with people, somebody might notice something or you might feel you know somebody well enough to confide.
Such a sad story and a waste of a young life…RIP driver
May he now be having the peace in his mind he so obviously needed…poor chap [emoji20]
Thoughts and prayers to his family, Rest in peace fella [emoji1634][emoji1634]

I do not intend for this sounding bad , but if the lad was still alive , he would have to inform DVLA of his problems , not sure if his licence would have been taking away for a temporary period until the Doctors at DVLA decided his outcome , without being in bad taste after the event , but he could have decided to end it all by crashing his lorry .
Looking at the news report , how come he was not sanctioned under the mental health act, with numerous events that should have picked up .
