No speed limiters, no seatbelts, no traffic (well hardly) c,bs, good craic and plenty of lady flashers
Was like that working for a small company with a few trucks as well. Difference was I was driving around in 10 year old knackers, not something that looked like it had driven through Truck King.
I do miss the CB. Used to make journeys pass a lot quicker. Nowadays other than around towns/cities there’s little to hear.
To be honest thats how I remember it being, we used to have a right good laugh when out and about. I still have Kings of the rigs on vhs. Oh I almost forgot a few of us were in Crick truckstop when some filming was happening, but not sure if it was for king of the rigs or some other documentary of the day.

tell you what blue,
nuffin changes `cept the aircuts an a hi-viz vest added,
plus there may be a few more wrinkles in the back door , eh boy .
I remember that fella ( nigel?) Who was talking on the cb in lesmahgow in the camp voice, used to have some right laughs with him up and down the road, think his catchphrase was “chase me, chase me , go on…” or something along them lines, there was another fella used to do a toff voice, chocks away charlie was his name or something similar, good times
Just watched the first 10mins of this on my phone and it ■■■■■■ all over that over dramatised crap that was Eddie Stobart Trucks and trailers. The fella with the tash and perm looks like one of the three scousers of Harry Enfield and friends I wonder if the lady trucker used her cab as a knocking shop on a night judging by the interior

you would need to have been brave getting t tha cab beside that?? d have thought she would have made more being a travelling advert for heanor haulage or pickfords…running empty that truck would have been overloaded on the front axle
Great find, Good watch

Like one of our drivers. Every time he’s pulling a Moffet trailer we say he acts as the counter balance at the front
it not like this anymore which is sad, a way of life sadly eroding away
great watch and brought back some good memories shame its gone to where we cant even speak to each other now.

I can only go back as far as 84/85 when I first started on ‘the underweights’ but even then, if those pesky people from the Wheeltappers & Shunters club were about, those on the bigger stuff would always give a couple of flashes and then hold a tacho disc up for you to see and would always get a thumbs up in way of appreciation. There was none of this ‘mines bigger than yours’ bollox, we were all drivers and treated the same
Yes just how I remember drivin for a livin, away all week. Enjoyed it as well and made plenty money, and being able to make ends meet. Been a long time since a seen G Cordiners motors.
