third time lucky?

Thanks for the advice and support everyone. Much appreciated. It’s so frustrating when you know that you can do it . It’s just a matter of keeping it together for that hour. Nerves. Thinking of having them extracted next time - does anyone have any idea what that might cost?

:frowning: so sorry mate. it is nerves. what i would do in your situation is this, day prior to test a 4 hour lesson to polish everything up. including gear changes. this will be embossed on the back of my head. day of test, pre test drive loads of gear changing and positioning. on test, try making conversation with examiner i know he wont talk but general stuff like " turn left here" or at roundabout 3rd exit. also as your driving speak to yourself and talk your way thruough, ie, speed change coming up check mirrors and braking slowing to 30 check mirrors and blind spot. that way you are so occupied with the drive you dont have time to be nervous. it also shows the examiner that you are reading the road and foreward thinking. you are doing it unconciously anyhow so say what you are doing.
Good luck next time mate dont give up now cos you come too far to stop.

Thanks for the advice Brian - did you do your test at Simonswood? I know it’s a long shot but with you being based on the wirral you never know…

Good luck on the retest again mate…

Plenty of sleep the night before will help your concentration.

Bad news I’m afraid. The drive to the test centre was great, no problems at all. My instructor said that all I had to do was drive like that for another hour and I’d breeze it. So what do I do? Turn out of the test centre in fourth gear and then forget to flick the switch going for sixth. End up in second, pretty much come to a halt and there you go - failed before I’d even got going. Haven’t done anything like that since my first couple of lessons. Went on to clip a kerb turning left at a T-junction - something I’ve NEVER done before. Nerves, nerves, nerves. Must be, mustn’t it?

Thanks for the messages of support and advice; it means a lot.

Fourth time lucky?
