Thinking of taking a biowaste job.. need some advice please

I’m thinking of taking a biowaste transport job and I know this sounds stupid but I was wondering if anyone else has little tricks to keep the cab smelling fresh… And it’s an away all week job so would be sleeping in it every night.

I’m coming off curtainside work to do this so im used to staying in a smell free cab tbh.

I know some might think it’s a stupid thing
to consider but it does smell quite bad haha.

Any tips would be appreciated.

simply tip keep the windows closed whn loading / tipping and close the vents who is it with if u dont mind me asking

when you say biowaste do you mean biomass or food waste, I do waste to energy plant work with domestic waste and to be honest its no a big problem smell wise, I don’t wear my boots in the cab leave them on the top step and just use normal air fresheners in the cab :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

buy yourself a pair of overalls they come in handy keeping yourself clean :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Keep any workboots/clothes in outside locker

It’s a mixture of grass cutting and food I think… It’s not a problem leaving boots on step and coat in locker. The only thing I was thinking was the bedding holding the pong.

No probs just keep windows shut loading and tipping

green waste is not a problem there is not that much smell off of it, never notice a smell on the bedding to be truthful but there again I do smoke so my sense smell is not that great. I do sleep on the top bunk and keep it folded up during the day so that might help :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Youl either get used to the ming, or you wont. Best thing is to just go total manky ! Love it !

Don’t worry about the smell. It’s the flies that will do you in.

Smells in the cab can be dealt with having a few bottles of febreeze …and some attachable air fresheners…could always get something from Auto smart but it really depends on what bio mass your dealing with…you’ll have spare clothes for when you get messy … What about having a pair of overalls and wear when loading and unloading…

Think working on the tankers cleaning out the septic tanks would be a far worse and smellier job that what you got installed…

Don’t mention the flies when I was on the skips with the council at Lochar Moss Tip some o them were nearly as big as the pigeons. Eddie.

We used to get flies at hespin wood near Carlisle. Horrid things.

Now I have the lovely midges.

Bicarbonate of soda will absorb smells rather than mask them with another and is cheap.

You will have interesting conversations with the police and VOSA about the open container of white powder in your cab, too!

Or a nice big comeley wench who keeps you alcohol fuelled. she can slap the flies too while keeping you company.

Green waste isn’t really a problem smell wise it’s the flies make sure your aircon works in the summer. The really horrendous stuff is pure food waste :open_mouth: keep windows shut tippin n loadin is it a walking floor you will b using or tipper ■■?

Yeah it’s a walking floor. Looking forward to it as it’s something different… Although I do like a nice cab.

What do you do with the bicarbonate soda?

Just have it in a bowl or a tub without it being covered… so it draws in smells etc etc… from what I know you can even sprinkle some on ya carpets in ya cab and use it like a shake and vac when having a clean out

That’s brill thanks, learnt something new ta
