JJ Food service in Leeds are always hiring class 2, tho its hard work/handball multidrop. Brakes also class 2 but bloody hard work (decent money though). I noticed recently Talstaff agency are hiring new pass class 1 drivers, im not sure but i think they do one of the supermarkets…

That’s blinking rude, coming onto a truck site to tell all us what rotten jobs we have

Especially, as you say yourself, you haven’t had a job in the industry yet anyway.

If that’s your typical attitude it’s no wonder you haven’t found a job and it wouldn’t make any difference if you were pink with purple spots, you still wouldn’t get one

It’s got nothing to do with my attitude pal, you don’t even know me so Plz don’t make such comments, I was merely reflecting on my effort that I’ve made in the last two years just to get my foot in the industry, I was talking about industry rules and regs not the drivers or other people involved in it, I’ve tried to put across myself as flexible, professional and hard working as I possibly could in interviews and assessments but apparently it all boils down to insurance co’s. Don’t make personal comments without knowing the full history, plz

Oh believe me when I say I am not your ‘pal’

Who told you that you are a ‘good driver’? How can you possibly know whether you are or not until you have done the job?

That’s nothing to do with attitude? So what is it to do with?

There’s been a lot of good advice on this thread but to every poster you just reply ‘yep have tried that’ to everything they say…

That’s nothing to do with attitude? So what is it to do with?

Stobarts, Turners and Downtons are all known for taking new passes and self insure. Thats in addition to any local firms that will around you. Personally if “looking” for 2 years and getting nowhere I think it is either what you are looking for in terms of hours/pay or your attitude in interview. I don’t know you so can’t say what but struggle to see any other possibilities for not getting a start

I’d tend to agree with the guy above.
I’ve seen guys well in their 80s do the job and I’ve seen guys over 30 stone do the job and I’ve even seen trans people do the job.
I suspect the problem as to why you can’t find a job is something to do with you not the industry but you seem ignorant to it or reluctant to tell us.
2 years and no job seems more then a bit odd to me.

Calling bs also on that, 2 years and no job offers? I walked out of a warehouse job straight into a full time job at Stobarts with ZERO experience, I left Stobarts and walked into an agency and got 18 months of work, then into another agency job which has led to going full time. So you are either no looking hard enough, a complete moron, failed the attitude test, or the whole lot. If it’s a case of insurance companies, its a case of having a license with endorsements on it, or if you have had assessments, aren’t up to the grade as much as you claim to be.

ProudNewbie:
Thoroughly unhealthy and UNFAIR industry too in my opinion. And I’m saying so from personal experience since having my class 1 for 2 years and still no job. Like I mentioned earlier everywhere I was going just got told to bugger off basically despite being fully qualified, OK no experience but how does one get experience without that first opportunity. I can only say the industry has lost a another good driver

How do you account for the fact that hundreds of drivers on this forum alone have found work very shortly after passing their tests, often in parts of the country where work is harder to find?

You have to ask yourself if it is you that is doing something wrong here.

Get a hiab licence too. It’s not much but it means at this time of year you’ll get class 2 builders merchants work in. And experience

There’s loads of work in West Yorkshire area, some ain’t the best money but it’s there.
Somethings not right if you can’t get on with any of them and you’ve had your license for two years without turning a wheel.
Longs of Leeds are on job page every week and it states new passes welcome.

Only one thing left to do…ask the reason WHY? they will not cover you on Insurance…Everything else has been covered on here.

I usually do ask for a feedback after every assessment and interview and they all tell me its down to lack of experience as insurance won’t accept it. I even offered to pay the difference in excess (if within reason and affordability of course) but was told its against ethics. What else can I do?

You should give up the search as you’ve been planning to do. Clearly you’re not cut out for it. Try some local take-aways or taxi companies; I think you will have better success there. Good luck.

Umm… perhaps the fact that you’ve allegedly spent 2 years looking without success? :bulb: I think that would be long to tell anyone with an ounce of intelligence that the industry is not for them.

And don’t give me that “I’ve tried everywhere and no-one is interested” BS. As others have said, if you’ve had 2 years of endless rejections then the problem is staring at you in the mirror, not from having a lack of driving xp.
