Just a warning to anyone around the Bury St Edmunds area that there are thieves about. Had batteries stolen from one of the trucks at my depot last night and the catalytic converter stolen from a Sprinter last week. My base is fairly close to the lorry park so keep your eyes peeled!
Sadly there are thieves everywhere nowadays. I can remember the days when you could park up in laybys and nobody slashed curtains or interfered with loads.
Batteries on trucks have always been prone to getting nicked and the security to protect them is no better than it was 20 years ago.
Mercedes sprinter ones are highly valued on the black market as they are expensive to replace .they are also very. Accessible and easy to remove so much so that they now have serial numbers stamped into them . Hss used to allow thier drivers to take their vans home at night but after a spate of cat converter thefts this has been stopped in certain areas of the country .
Serial numbers will mean ■■■■ to the ■■■■■■■■ thieves that have their own smelters.
One was found onsite during a raid after a bunch of generators were stolen.

All the more reason for this development give support at dkmcrae.com at least they are trying to do the right thing
Your support for that truckstop is both admirable, and duly noted on every thread you’ve bombarded with it, but what has it got to do with the blokes own yard getting turned over?
one of our drivers had his fuel sender unit nicked last week,he heard a noise at 2am then heard a door close but no engine start up,so he got up had a walk around and saw the sender unit missing.he was parked next to a foreigner who had a scania similar to ours, when the police arrived they “woke up” the foreigner who didnt speak much english and asked him to check his lorry of course his lorry hadnt been touched so they couldnt prove that he had nicked it but it makes you think

Yeh mate it does, a foreign driver? Not only that but he didn’t speak English …, well it must have been him then, undoubtedly so.
Hang the ■■■■■■■■ that’s what I say.
Maybe the poor ■■■■■■■ was only getting out for a ■■■■.
Ffs!
Having an identical lorry made the foreigner guilty of theft with no proof except the sound of a door slamming, that is ridiculous.
And they woke him to disturb his daily rest, which could make him tired and cause an accident, where is the proof it was the foreigner that stole it ?
