Today my mate told me a real funny from last week.
A lad he knows was cycling past a lay-by on a dual carriageway Near me when he saw a tanker driver in hi vis coat pull into said lay by and jump out and very quickly looking very furtive take a short 3 part brand new aluminium extension ladder out of the cab piece at a time , slide it down the embankment under a bush when no cars were going past and then drive off rather quickly looking around as he went to his depot about 1/2 a mile away.
I reckon it was supplied by the company to be fitted to a truck and he lifted it from the other depot. Or perhaps not ?
Anyway said lad on bike calls his Uncle with his mobile , Uncle is a local plasterer/ builder …Uncle appears in his van 5 mins latter grabs ladder ,nephew and puts lads bike on the back and goes away happy with his “find”.
I wish I was there to see the drivers face when he tries to “collect” his ladder from under the bush where he hid it !
Perhaps I am wrong but I doubt it !
The lad on the bike saw a lot, how slowly was he riding? and if the tanker driver waited for cars to pass before stashing his loot why didn’t he wait for the cyclist?
Funny if true but I have my doubts.
How many of you would’ve phoned the depot and told them about the drivers actions, or possibly picked them up and took them to the nearby depot & returned them to the possible true owner??

Yep,Me to. Biker and his dad are no better than the driver for stealing (if thats actually what was going on. How do we know it wasnt for a swap with another driver from same company?) but its nothing to do with me

maybe there is a good explanation for hiding this ladder? do i assume hes guilty?
maybe, its his ladder and hes lending it to a mate? “just leave it in the lay by mate i’ll pick it up after work”
Leaving it in a lay by for a work mate is a bit of a weak excuse, it leaves the item vulnerable to 3rd party theft taking it back to the yard, shoving it either in his mates car, shoving it under it or leaving it with the gatehouse would’ve been better.
My original point was to measure people’s morality/honesty
there were at tsco weibritge outside the bushes full shoppingbags when the first polish came over. They stopped by arrival on the tight side,hang the shoppin bag on the bushes and drove in the yard.
(How you do that if you paid for it?)
one of the shunta harvested them and put it to the security to be collected with receipe. no one collected
be a lot funnier if it was three or four large plastic containers and the guy on the bike thought they was diesel and the uncle poured them into his van and they turned out to be p1ss

Couldn’t laddo on the bike/uncle be done for theft by finding if bubbled/spotted etc?
It’s only theft if you’ve directly taken it from the place or person it belongs to,“finding” it in a lay-by would be very difficult for any court to find you guilty of theft.
