I used to work at camp runamuck supplies, 7.5t or LWB sprinter depending on orders
how these things didnt get noticed I just dont know…
1 driver (7.5t) had a 2 day run, would get done on day 1 and blat home and not work on day 2 (did it twice a week) and sit the truck on his drive at home
another guy was passed by a workmate at Malvern on the M5 south early, the workmate was supposed to be in Exeter on day 2 of his 2 day run…but ■■■ was on offer near Birmingham so he would drive down, do day 1, blat home, have his ■■■/sleep and drive back down to Exeter to do his 2nd day
1 driver also put 100ltrs of diesel in when the trucks tank held only 90ltrs, but he had a diesel car…
also, the manager did have three drivers in the office asking how coome all 3 on a night out ended up in Blackpool on their night out when they did last drops in Liverpool…Sheffield and…Hull
DWYNE:
how on gods earth can you get away with it■■?
It was easy enough back in the day, tacho’s were a joke and lots of companies never kept good records of diesel use or miles driven…office staff had no clues often also.
Hence lots went bust !
I hauled as an OD for one on continental work with a tanker, often the FLT guy would “sell” a tank of diesel for £20 to buy his dinner !
Thats why todays prosperous companies are sharp and on the ball.

it was “own goods” (restricted o licence) the transport manager (as such) was at head office down south, the charts were read by an outside company who didnt really know what was going on, it took a major blunder to get noticed
