There's good money to be made at The Yearsley Group

The Yearsley cold store at Seaham has had a windsock put up in the yard so that Harry Yearsley can land his helicopter. I wonder what his Christmas bonus will be this year…?

What difference dose it make, he took the risk setting the company what he earns is up to him if drivers don’t like it leave.

That would be a valid point…except he didn’t set up the company.

Ok then he takes the risk running the company

Didn’t he ? I remember running round his freezer shops in Rochdale and Haywood finding space for 26 pallets of frozen chips along time ago .

The company was set up by his grandfather, the original Harry Yearsley. The company is a family owned trust, run by several family members and others. The current Harry is chairman, and his brother and sister were also on the board when I was there.

That’s a typical reply you see on this board made by transport company owners and various TMs.
You either work for minimum wage, 80 hrs per week, all week away in a tin box, or if not like it , here is the door.

Typical numpty response imho.

If those that did, do or have worked for them didn’t make an effort the business would not be what it is today. They get rich for not only taking risks but also by the efforts of those they employ. Is it too much to be reasonably rewarded for that effort?

You come from the wrong age I’m afraid if you believe that Victorian values are what we should strive for.

Its no business of a driver what the owners of a firm make or take out of a firm . No one forces any one to do 80 hours and live in a tin box all week or work for minimum wage. people forget that people start firms do so to make money for themselves ,directors or share holders .I don’t know much about Yearsly’s apart from the adverts for drivers down here and the drivers are on far from minimum wage.

Well that’s not me I am 55 and been working from the day I left school 5 days before my sixteenth birthday and until last August 15 years as a driver but now moved to the railways and if you read any of my other posts you will see I think drivers working hours should be the same as every one else 35 to 40 hours a week and as for staying in a tin box I would ban them unless all office staff and bosses stay in them as well.
I also think if someone has made good then good luck to them and as in this case if his staff don’t like him having money don’t work there because he is nothing without staff

his staff do think they are reasonably rewarded or they would not stay there

It is the way the world works. The guy who runs the company gets the big bucks. It will NEVER change. You have to remember the haulage industry in particular is cut throat. He has to keep all those drivers and employees in jobs and he has to keep finding work for everyone to cover all overheads AND run at a profit. That’s a lot of pressure and stress. If you are not happy at what the pay is,then leave. Or start a company of your own. Your wage structure will obviously be S*** hot so you will have no trouble finding drivers! Lol

Good luck to the bloke, due to our roads becoming increasingly clogged…nothing to do with their being too many people in the country of course…i’d drive me helicopter instead of me Bentley whenever possible too.

Boss driving a chopper tells me the company is successful, more likely to be good terms and conditions to be had at a company like that than one where the boss cycles in, dressed in rags like most poor farmers politicians and celebrities… :smiling_imp:

wonder if alan sugar’s staff post to complain he drives round in a bentley?

and who on here wouldnt take a nice life of riley if great grandad had set up a large company?

stobrat and tink have a chopper! :unamused: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

So the general consensus is that you’d all work for Mr Stobart then? Crack on!

I’m not saying the boss shouldn’t get what he deserves, I’m saying a bit more spread about means his business is always the best because he employs the best and if they’re happy he earns even more. If he screws them they will eventually screw him. Loads of shiny trucks without drivers is no good to anybody.

Have you looked at his back ground and seen how he got where he has? Don’t make laugh!

I imagine Yearsley’s like others started out as one guy working his ■■■■■■■■ off risking all, if and it is a big if he gets it right then it may grow and future generation may add to it. This opportunity is open to anyone, so how many of the green eyed moaners on here would be willing to take the gamble, I’m guessing very few, sooner sit on their arse and ■■■■■.

I also can not find any mention of people being unerpaid, and Yearsleys seem to be one of the harder companies to get into as a driver in this neck of the woods so cant be too bad :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Don’t know why people are taking the OP so seriously. He only made a statement with a bit of a tongue in cheek humour. Don’t recall him putting Mr Yearlsey down or slagging him off for it.
