There is some justice

Returning from tipping in Spalding last night pootling along the A17 doing 50mph or there abouts i was joined by a 4x4 who for about 5 miles tried his best to overtake ,he was right up my chuff for most of the way and was starting to ruin an otherwise quite relaxing run .He was so close that i could only see his lights reflecting of the road to give me a clue that anything was actually there .Anyway there is a stretch on that road (some here will know this road well) that has a long steep hill with a crawler lane .I was heading north so going down hill,he was practically parked in the back of my truck and tried valiantly to ignore the traffic coming up hill using both lanes repeatedly trying to use the DC to the right to get passed and ignoring the solid white lines .Anyway towards the bottom there is a speed camera on a straight stretch (anyone see where this is going yet :grimacing: ),and in his wisdom he decided this was a good place to pass ,he shot out accelerated and the flashes of the speed camera almost obscured the tyre smoke as he frantically tried to break :grimacing:
Had he kept a respectable distance instead of inspecting the rust on the tail lift he would have spotted the camera ,or even overtaken a few miles back when i indicated left to let him pass .

On the flip side, earlier that night(A16 towards Spalding)) a white sprinter was working his way through a line of traffic with an artic at the head(i was at the back) ,shoving each car out the way until he was tight behind the artic .My sat nav told me that a roundabout was approaching 0.6 miles ahead and i could see that the van was itching to get in front before the roundabout forced him to slow .He gave no consideration to the artic who probably was thinking about the approach to the roundabout at about the 0.5 mile mark but the van jumped in front removing the lorries breaking distance and forcing the lorry to break much harder than anticipated and in turn causing problems for the cars behind the lorry
Why couldn’t the old bill have been sitting anywhere on that roundabout to get this numpty instead of on a bridge with a speed camera and a bag of dohnuts

I have to agree that there are some idiots on the roads tho last night another one got his comeuppance!!

M56 last night about 530pm - it was pi55ing down, very heavy rain - and as I pulled off M60 to go M56 south to head back south, a Volvo FH pulling skelly with 20ft box undertook me. Fair enugh maybe I gave him a gap, but he then proceeded to “bully” cars in front of him as we ran along the M56. The only reason I could see cars in front og him was wen he put full beam on, and braked to keep a few feet behind those in front of him.

This went on until the A556 junction, at which point he was about 300m in front of me in the middle lane and I suddenly saw blue/red flashing lights come on. Yes you guessed it , he was trying to intimadate an unmarked plod car.

Im sure that they were not going to give him congratulations on his fine driving!!

If I had been doing 50 on the sc part of the a17 would have been worried that it was a cop ready to nick me.

If you’d been doing 40mph then he’d have passed you easily

Sorry

Had to get in before the do gooders of Trucknet arrive to put the boot in :stuck_out_tongue:

50mph? Sure it wasn’t you getting flashed?

That camera is also able to detect trucks as well, so be careful when you approach it.

It`s always like this around here…I just wish there was some traffic Police around, but it is a cold day in Hell if you see one :imp:
I have seen so many shunts because of these knobheads…The driving in Lincs is dire and I firmly believe it is a result of lack of Police presence :imp:

As I recall it is a 40 mph limit for trucks on this section of road or at least it was last week.

Lincs do not have a dedicated traffic division as I recall.

There have been a few posts recently asking where such and such is or why certain individuals seem not to post on TN anymore.

Well you only have to look at some of the posts to realise why! I’m sure the op is a grown up, I’m also pretty sure that he’s aware that the stretch of road he was on is a 40 limit. I’m also pretty sure he doesn’t need someone sat on a high horse wagging a proverbial finger at him. If I was having a face to face conversation with someone and I mentioned that I’d been sat at 50 on a s/c and he took it upon himself to lecture me I’d tell him to eff off. If he continued to lecture me I’d make his nose bleed.

Ask yourselves if you were sat in a pub with your mates and one mentioned doing 80 in his car whether you’d take it upon yourself to point out the relevant speed limits to him. Of course you wouldn’t, and if you would, then that is probably why you’re sat in a pub by yourself!

Give it a rest ffs, we all know the speed limits, we all know the myriad other rules and regs some folk waste no opportunity to ram down our throats, it’s getting a tad tedious now.

Lincs must be one of the most hard up Police forces with their Proton’s

They have probably stopped visiting this site because they are fed up with reading posts like this.

they do but they dont tend to be anywhere of use they have some subarus and bmw’s but they just never where you would expect them to be unless u expect them to be at nick in tea room

Whilst he got some justice it only goes to show how dangerous the cameras are, smoke coming from any vehicles wheels shows a lack of control, a hazard to every other road user whether the driver is a ■■■■ or not.

probably should have mentioned i drive a 7.5 ton truck so i can quite happily sit at 50mph on SC…my bad

If you’re referring to my response, you’ll see a little winking face on there, meant as a joke, see? In fact I don’t give a monkey’s f**k how fast the OP drives his motor, it’s up to him, as it happens, I think the 40 limit for LGVs on single carriageways is ridiculous, the sooner it’s lifted the better. The only other thing I’d say is that the few Police we do have patrolling in Lincs. have a reputation for being strict on the 40mph rule.
