I’m surprised that no one seems a bit doubtful about a story which seems too good to be true and in which someone seems to be saying that they got a class 1 in 2006 at the age of 17 ■■?.

he was in the army!
of course its not true is it!
Oh yeah right I forgot anyone can join up at 16 and be out there driving artics and wagon and drags by the time they’re 17. Maybe 18 I’d believe it.

i think you might find its 17 in the forces!
Where don’t tell me they let em loose on a tank transporter or a wagon and drag logistics job before they’ve even completed basic training and get posted to their unit which may or may not be the RCT/Logistics corps etc etc job they joined up for depending on wether their face fits. Some of those who I left school with 35 years ago and who bought themselves out of the army for exactly that reason could tell you that.

Blimey. .There’s always an exception which proves every rule.If it seems too good to be true sometimes it is true IF you’re one of the lucky ones where everything goes right.
welshboyinspain:
didn’t you need a passport in the army?
what if they sent your squad to afghanistan could you say “sorry can’t go, got no passport”

IF you can only join at 3 months before 18 then how can you get an LGV licence at 17 when basic training lasts 14 weeks before posting for driver training ■■.
You can join amry at 16 now, I went in 3 weeks after my 17th birthday. Also something it seems you missed was he said he passed in 2006 aged 17 but never drove after his test. He said it in first paragraph. Also he has never said he did not have a passport, just that he was waiting for it to return so he may of just changed his picture on it.
why is it on here some one has a bit of luck and lands a job they want, out of pure chance, and people knock them for it or look for reason to shout bull crap at them.
im glad the OP has got a job doing what he wanted and maybe going onto euro work. i hope he has many happy miles ahead of him.

I agree with you though, hope he gets what he wants out the job.
To the above 2 posts thanks alot I earnt my license putting up with the army for a few years and I joined when I was 16! Below is a couple of photos a took on the first job I did…
I took this on an a road! Dodging traffic wasnt fun
there are plenty of young drivers in the army if he joined a logistics corp then driving would of been apart of his training within his basic army skills, there is a cafe up in hull full of the spotty kids the training centre is next door i think, combat attire with hi viz vests all brimming with excitement
I just hope that you get treated better than the norm, time will tell, BTW, just because you ain’t got your passport yet don’t mean that you can’t go to euroland, as you will no doubt have a photocard driving license which unless they have changed anything is accepted at Dover/Calais Dunkerque as ID ,but as for them sending you on a euro mission on your jack, very doubtful but i wouldn’t write off the possibility but is unlikely, as they tend to do double manned to Europe more than single manned work and would normally send you out with a established driver to see how you go over there

I used to drive to goole whilst training in a wagon and drag, they used to make us wear overalls & hi vises yet people knew we were army as there were so many lgv learners round the humberside area! People at leconfield used to hate 2000 lorries going of camp in the mornings lol.
Really chuffed for you mate, dont let the haters get at you
Just take your time and dont ever get over confident, if you do you will more than likely come a cropper, be as professional as you can and you wont go far wrong
