Theory &HP

Well ive passed my theory & HP driving assesment on Friday ,

Congratulations!

What did you think of the Hazard Perception test please?

Hi was ok but i forgot my glasses , but i thought getting 0 for not clicking enough was a bit much , then 0 for over clicking i think even with my glasses on some views were not that clear .

Hi,

Haven’t sat the official HP test yet, but have done a lot of practice ones - some of their assessment of a hazard and mine seem to be quite off the mark. For example, one I had was a person running along the pavement on my side, waving at a bus on the other side which was sitting at the stop. I clicked for hazard as soon as I saw them start to head for the road, but got zero, because they started the scoring from the moment they actually set foot off of the pavement. If I had been driving I would already have been slowing down and getting ready to stop before that point!

I read somewhere that more experienced drivers tend to do worse on the HP, as they are more used to responding sub-conciously, rather than actively thinking ‘must react’. That’ll be my excuse if I fail anyway

No probs at all on the theory test questions - even ones relating to 3-line braking systems - remember them well from my Dad’s day!

It is the difference between a developing hazard and an actual hazard.

Most seasoned drivers will spot the hazard developing. They are looking for people who are thick and only see the hazard in front of them.

I question the ethics of giving the same test to provisional commercial drivers (who potentially have been on the road for years) as they do to newbie motorcycle and car drivers.

Well done for passing
