A wee question for the instructors…
Class D Theory Test, and CPC… is it much (if at all) different from the Class C Theory / CPC ?
Had my C theories today (CPC tomorrow) so decided to do a bit of cramming last night with the DSA Theory tests DVD… I only managed to go and snap it when taking it out of the bloody box

Anyway, I’d already read up on braking systems, speed limits, weight/dimension restrictions etc… so went for it anyway, passed them both with 96% theory, 76 for HPT.
I have my module 2 for Class C tomorrow, so I’ll read the CPC book tonight… and I have my Theory and mod 2 for Class D next week… is there any point in me getting another Theory DVD, or should I just read the Class D CPC book ?
Thanks,
Chris.
P.S… I’m now of the opinion that it kinda makes a bit of a mockery of things, if you can get fairly respectable pass marks with practically zero studying!!
I’m not an instructor, but I have both Cat C & CE and Cat D & DE licences. I’ve held the bus licence for over 11 years, but less than a year for the LGV categories.
Given your good scores in the Cat C Theory test (and speaking only as a layman), I’d have thought a thorough study of the Cat D CPC manual should suffice. Obviously, expect questions on the main points of difference - passenger safety and comfort, speed and weight/dimension limits, UK domestic hours rules, dealing with accidents/incidents, etc. - as well as stuff that’s common to both.
You might not get a perfect score, but you should pick up enough to do yourself justice.
Good luck!
A lot of it is common to both. So, with a bit of luck and a following wind, you stand a good chance of being fine.
All the best with it, Pete

96% on CPC
Didn’t really read the book, just leafed through it.
I particularly enjoyed the case study about the driver that needs to lose weight… And the subsequent question about what would be best for him to have for dinner. I nearly chose the “Pie & Chips” or “Weight Loss medication” answers, just for a laugh.
Seriously !? This is how they are gauging a drivers ‘competence’ ?
