The Worst Road In England

I drive it quite often and every time during the day it grinds to a halt. Do car drivers turn into vegetables on the down hill stretch, Yes.
I’m talking about the A1 from Birtley truck stop to the A69 north bound and the same south bound.
Even the M6 through Brum runs better than this.
What do you lot think ?

Sorry! But nothing beats the M62 all the way from Hull to Liverpool! I hate the whole road with a vengeance; in fact it is possibly one of the biggest reasons why I hung up my keys!

Great topic that will run and run!

Last time I was in England it had been so long that I had begun to believe, because of Sally Traffic that the whole place was just one big snarl up.
What a pleasant surprise to drive from Dover to ■■■■■■■ and back without a single problem.
With one exception - the Derby Ring Road. It took as long to get round that as it had from Congleton to Derby.

Rolling the dice again tomorrow, not going near Derby this time, hoping for a clear run :sunglasses: .

Salut, David.

Any road leading to England got to be bad

Driven in which direction ■■?

Spardo, there is now a Southern Relief Road around Derby, and it has improved traffic flow tremendously. I can now do the journey from Ilkeston to J15 of the M6 in 1 1/4 hours. Ill start heading for J16 when the improvements to the A500 have been completed next year. Have to agree with the post regarding the Newcastle Western by-pass - its a nightmare, regardless of time of day. IMHO the worst stretch is travelling South between Team Valley and Washington Services

Gotta be the M25!!! Mind you, the roads are ok, it’s the people that use them!!

All of them. :imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :imp:

In my book this prize has to go to the M4 (the English bit). Loaded or empty you simply sit on the limiter for hour after hour. Evryone else is doing the same so there is very little to keep your mind sharp and the whole experience just turns into mind numbing monotony. Park Royal to Felinfoel (Llanelli) 2, sometimes 3 times a week was enough to make you want to ■■■■■ your wrists.

I know that Trevor. It opened while I still worked in Nottingham. My mates and I ran several trials to determine which was quicker and there was little in it but on this occasion there was an accident blockage of the southern by pass so I avoided it.

So did everyone else apparently :frowning:

Salut, David.

Dont laugh at him, Karl - youll just encourage him. I`m surprised he knows that other roads exist, anyway, as he spends all his working life on the M8 :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

any

have to disagree Newbie Grange Road / High Heworth Lane (this runs parellel with the Felling by pass towards Heworth Metro) as a survey only last week proved it was bussier than the A1 western by pass sorry

M25 will drive that at 2.30 am any day of the week

Paris ring road what a nightmere at alll times :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

its got to be woodhead through past motram, this was due a major link road about fifty years ago!
as for the m6 past brum, i drive it every day and very rarely are there any major problems, going back on the m1 north is always worse from j25 to j30

i,m not a normal person i drive on nights so traffic is never a problem for me , although boredom is …
the M5 all the way down to exeter and back for a trailer change is enough to make me weep over my steering wheel … it destroys my soul …
and someone seems to be moving the end of the M40 ( either end ) further and further away …
A580 east lancs road towards liverpool … not once have i got down there without being stopped at every single frigging set of lights . for no reason other than the local council was too stingy to put in sensors to change the lights , because yes all the joining roads have no traffic on them but you still have to stop and let the imaginery traffic join … stupid useless timers

i,m sure there is more but these 3 spring to mind instantly

anywhere near worksop.
