The Week?

Is the week 7 or 8 days long? Is a day 24 or 25 hours? Is a year 365 or 366 or 367 days long? I really can’t remember or be arsed anymore but one thing I still don’t understand is this:

I’ve got £50 in my wallet, the shops are open 9 to 5 Monday to Saturday and I spend my £50 through the week no problem. Now, some bright spark decided that we need to have the shops open 365/247 to increase business activity! So how does/did my £50 last any longer or become more valuable just by opening hours and available days to spend it increasing■■?

Is it still £50 I had or did someone hoodwink me into thinking I was now better off in this brave new world? I certainly don’t feel any richer and I can positively say that my life HAS NOT been enriched by all this crap we now see as ‘normal’!

Let’s get back to a normal week and start spending some quality leisure time with family and friends - you’ve got 5 and a bit days to spend what you haven’t got so why do we need more?

Shops being open 24/7 is great for a night shifter like me. I can visit Asda (other supermarkets are available) on works time, and when it’s dead. Suits me perfectly

Everything should be open all of the time. As it now, the only things that are open all of the time are 24hr McDonalds and petrol stations selling sausage rolls for a fiver.

If anybody knows of anywhere else that is open at 1am on a Monday morning, please let me know.
