no its general all purpose plastic, they have a place in blackburn aswell as dalgety bay, jobs alright, mostly handballing but you always get a hand.

Spent the morning fitting a snorkel to the Discovery, big off roading weekend coming up weekend after next, I want her ready…

Just rang 25 companies from the yellow pages, got one guy I’ve got to ring back in about forty mins regarding 7.5 tonne work, and got to ring a company back on Wednesday, plus two compnies are sending out application forms to fill in to keep on record. Fairly happy with the ratio of calls to potential leads, going out this morning with night out bag ready to start there and then brought nothing though :frowning:

7 days, more phonecalls than I care to remember, CV’s fired off to every other job on the net (driving, admin, stripper, I’m praying for the publics sake I dont get an interview for that, etc ), a couple of application forms returned and I’m still here. :smiley:

Is the problem lack of work or experience Garner? I thought the area you’re in was the Golden Triangle for driving work?

The problem may be that most of the driving work in that area is C+E and he has C.

Well I’m 22 which doesnt help and as such no git has been willing to offer me an opportunity, its the companies market now, rather than the drivers, also only passed C in Nov so no experience. Some of the bigger companies round here I’ve spoken to said they’re laying off and stuff which doesn’t help as it means more drivers looking for fewer jobs. Rog FYI lets see what 25th April brings…

im in your club now after having a good 7 years plumbing. ive got 4 days driving lined up for next week and the last time i drove a truck was january. now im pooping it :cry:

theres jack {zb} in east central scotland…i live here and nothing and theres jack coming up aswell. the only new job to come up on the jobcentre website yesterday was a dodgy job where after only speaking to the guy for what 20 seconds asked when i could leave for europe and that they wanted somebody to leave that day.

still here !! evry job i seem to find and apply for so do 200 others !! no agency work since xmas …things got to pick up soon, or i can see a career change coming …or going self employed!

Have you got skills in any other field that can get you a job then perhaps do a bit of driving on the odd day off?

Not just me then :open_mouth: phoned about a job yesterday, “class1?” yeah. " fine, euro exp?" yeah. “fine. OK, the lorries parked in Nth CP, NEC, can you meet me at Wolverhampton rlwy stn as I’ve got the keys, then go to Dover, catch ferry in morning, up to Kiel and catch cruise ferry to Lithuania, be there for weekend, set up and we’ll check into the hotel, then monday drive to Latvia, set up and we’ll fly you home for the weekend, then back to get the rig to take to Luxembourg” No checks, no nothing :open_mouth: When I told him I couldn’t start immediately (have already coomitted to agency, and I don’t let anyone down, got some principles :laughing: ) “Oh, ok, can you still meet me at Wolverhampton, get keys, go to pick up rig and take it back to yard”
OK, as long as we can make it early, and you refund railfare, plus fare from yard back to origonal start point, ie home, “yeah, no problem”

So far, so good, except he couldn’t tell me the name of the village HE was based/living in, described where it was, but when I told him the name [used to work breakdown/recovery all round there :wink: got used to finding places by description] (nowhere near the jobsite address I might point out :open_mouth: ) his answer? “no, it’s not a pub” :open_mouth:

Now anyone that knows the A5 Oswestry area will know Queens Head :wink: yes it the pub name, but it’s also the village name. So, he wants me to pick up a loaded rig from NEC, unaccompanied, and take it to some place that he doesn’t know the name of??

What about money, etc, say I. “Oh we’ll discuss that later, I pay well so don’t worry”

Is it me? does it sound suspicious? Sounded not kosha to me, had a bad feeling about it, call it a gut feeling, but turned him down. I want a job as much as anyone, (according to some on this forum, more than some do) but that gut feeling cannot be ignored :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Not easily, I have gone against my own a few times and regretted it.
If it doesn’t sound kosher it probably isn’t.
