The TruckNet annual bash

For a number of years we have held an annual get together for the forum users.

Last year it was postponed due to the management buyout of the Road Transport Group from RBI happening right through the period when we would have held it…

This year it is back,

Sponsored by the owners of the forums, the night (as those who have attended in the past will hopefully confirm) is usually chaotic, a bit riotous, totally informal and a bloody good laugh.

The owners as usual will be ensuring a good time is had by all by getting a few drinks in, and I (assisted by others) will be attempting to get money out of your wallets for various items donated by the industry and truck manufacturers for charity. (The last time this was held over £1000 was raised)

This years chosen charity will be the The Professional Drivers Foundation, which supports drivers and their families in times of crisis…

There is no tickets/booking/reservations to be made to us… we simply tell you when and where it is and if you want to come you arange your own transport and accomdation if needed. In previous years some members have used the thread to arrange car shares etc.

As said this is a totally free event, ( all you need to cover is your travel, accomodation if needed and drinks/food if wanted) If you want to meet up with those you have been chatting to online , simply turn up on the night.

was fun showing everyone this in the morning when we went for breakfast, jon sitting looking at his food as white as a sheet lol.

what you all cant see is the layer of water ont he floor…or the fact the tap had been left on for ages…or the fact he threw up in the sink…which is right next to the toilet

As a trustee of the PDF may I thank Rikki for thinking of us once again?

Others will no doubt be along who can put it betterer than me but it’s support like this that keeps us going.

I intended to do a very formal post thanking you all… :unamused:

Then I thought I’d just post from my heart :blush:

I am so, so grateful to you all for choosing the PDF. Our funds reached an all time low just before Christmas but we all knew we had to keep it going somehow.
A good Christmas Raffle helped but being adopted by you lot once again just about tops anything else :smiley:

At times, we become disheartened about the limited financial help we’ve had from the Industry itself, but personally I’m sooooo proud that most of the funds have been raised by lorry drivers themselves and this is always made clear to the recipients of financial help.

When I first became a lorry driver it was all about helping one another and looking after our own.

Well, some say the job is shot now and we all get shafted :unamused: but Trucknet and the PDF prove we remember the old ways and still know how to do the job properly.

Thanks to Rikki who has always supported us and asks for nothing in return, so many have benefitted from the generosity of his efforts of 2 years ago :smiley:

It’s the support we get from you lot that keeps us plodding on when the going gets tough.

We’ll try and get up to Cannock to meet you all if you promise to be gentle with us :wink:
