If our truck is busy I use a 3.5 ton IW trailer behind a 4x4 to move smaller kit about, a 2.7 ton digger on the trailer comes in at bang on the trailer limit. Its only the tail wagging the dog if weight distribution is wrong , I have had to stop before now and reposition the load. Its not an issue but you do need to be conscious of what the trailer is doing, way to many drivers out there blissfully unaware of their snaking trailers.

If the tow vehicle’s got air suspension I tend not to worry if it’s a bit heavy on the nose as better than the alternative. Those three axle Ifor’s lose a bit of payload but are much more forgiving on loading I find.

Are you sure that’s a 3.5 tonne trailer? Because those tyres look very much like the 155s that are used on the 2.6 tonne versions .

Yes its a 3.5 tonner, all the tilts are either 3 or 3.5 ton I think. iwt.co.uk/products/tiltbed/t … b=spec#tab
It did have a set of the fat wheels/tyres on it but some dirty bycrikey liberated them when it was parked on a job and at the time thats all I could find SH. That said they are the same 900kg rating as the fatter tyres, have been gathering up another set as and when they come up for sale.
Tri axles are a better job, this is my mates with a 4x4 RB dodge on it, probably the lions share of 3 ton, probably a tad overweight but a very stable towing platform.

What make are them 155’s then because I thought you had to go to 195’s to get the 900kg load rating ?
