Just because

Mr Celadon was lucky, I get down there a fair bit and have always wanted to do a video from the cab (with Elvis belting out Viva Las Vegas) as I drive down the strip, so I asked a copper if trucks were allowed and he said no way, it’s a $300 ticket too, so I park in the Wild Wild West truckstop on Tropicana Avenue and walk, I’ve lost far too much money there already without giving the Nevada State Patrol $300

Ahh, didn’t realise they were banned. He was trusting his luck then! Saw several trucks down there last year, but that was when the City Center development was in full swing so it was mainly construction traffic for the site. Absolutely love the place though, didn’t think we’d be that struck on it, only really chose to go there as it was the cheapest place in America for us to go to! Very envious of you having nights out there! We stayed at MGM so I guess we weren’t that far from where you’ve parked.

The truck park is a few 100yds from the MGM Grand, just the other side of the motorway, I love Vegas, I stop off everytime I go through there, I also went a few times from England, in fact I got married there, still you cant win everytime

 Managed to avoid that so far, although if there’s a next time then it’ll be the third visit so i might not be so lucky!

Nice pics! Blimey, you really are in amongst the action! Although i can’t get the first one of your motor in the truckstop.

Can’t rate it highly enough, mate. I was on Expedia for hours last year, looking all over America for somewhere to spend about 10 days. Then as a last resort really, did a search for Vegas and was astonished. Think we ended up getting 10 nights in the MGM with direct flights with Virgin from Gatwick for about £1200 for the two of us. And i think if we’d gone for the Stratosphere with split flights we could’ve got it for under £800. We just couldn’t get that level of accomodation anywhere else at that price. I think the casinos subsidise the hotels, but if you can hold yourself back from throwing your whole life onto ‘Red’, then you’re on a winner! Anyway, enough Judith Chalmers

Yeah, have dug a few out, also of fairly dubious quality i’m afraid

That’s about it i’m afraid, decided not to make it too much of a Busman’s holiday!

Also newmercman, IIRC i saw a rigid cement mixer with an axle on a boom about 10’ out the back end. I didn’t manage to get a photo, do you know what i’m on about? Is that one of those strange configurations that certain states demand?

Yes mate, they love adding axles to rigids over here, sometimes they’ll stick three pusher axles on a normal 6x4 rigid and then put one of those tags on a boom on too for good measure, they would be a right handful on a wet roundabout I bet

I’ll put the one of me in the truckstop on again, hope it works this time

And seeing that you’re a fan of the Charger, here’s a pic of mine

It’s got one of these under the bonnet, ooops I mean hood :stuck_out_tongue:

Very nice mate! I wasn’t sure about them at first, but they really grew on me. Could you FedEx me one over?! Not sure I’d be able to fund running a 5.7 over here though!
And I know what you mean about those rigids. I’ve seen several with the multiple pusher axles, most of which seem to lift, but like you say, must be a nightmare to change direction whilst loaded in the wet!
