Thanks it will take a long time but I will get there
The theory not that hard really all you have to do is some practice when I did mine would put disc in in mor with coffee in hand do about 3 /4 test then close down do same a few hr later again close down then after tea do a few more I found this the best for me to learn as you can concentrate for that long easy without doing to much
Same with HPT
Ask away still remember doing my test although some things have changed but if can help I will
I went for an assment at big wheels. Desided not to go with them. one of the guys there struck me as a lier. plus the road network round that area struck me as a tough one to drive round. Compared to other areas that test centres are based in. Althow I’m sure lots of people on here like big wheels and passed no probs with them.
I used jld based in Banbury and Abingdon. Not the cheapest but ither the dearest. But great trucks to lean in, and the road networks round Abingdon are really easy and quit low in traffic compared to many other places. to me it seemed a good place to get the pass. Blokes there all seemed alrite too. That’s just my expirance anyway. I passed first time with them and felt very confidant going into the test.
Like others have said, take your time on finding the right instructor. Go for lots of assments. Study the road networks that you will have to by driving in too, makes a difference I think. It Will pay dividends in the long run. Good luck
I’m now thinking of going to visit ATTS in Bridgend to see what they’re like but I’ll wait until I’ve got money in the bank before committing to anything. Hopefully ‘money in the bank’ will be within a fortnight
So I’ve just booked my HP and theory tests, the first convenient available date was 23rd October in Cardiff - didn’t think it would take 4 weeks but hey-ho. I couldn’t face doing the mod 2 at the same time so I’ll book that for a different time.
I’m hoping to pass my practical before Christmas as long as the weather holds out that is. I didn’t expect the whole process to take so long if I’m honest but never mind. If I can pass the C test I think I’d better shove in for C+E straight away - who knows I might still be on the good side of 50

I was surprised that it took six months for me to go from “I want to be a lorry driver” to “I AM a lorry driver”, and I didn’t dawdle! It’s certainly not a quick process!
Passed my module 2 - really chuffed with myself lol. The chappy in the test centre did say that it was a bit strange for me to do mod 2 before theory and HP since most people do it the other way round but I explained that there wasn’t a slot at the same time and this was the first suitable available time for me.
Day 2 of my training started off OK with reversing exercises then we went driving around test routes. It was OK but after 3.5 hours I started to lose concentration and between that and not getting enough sleep I think I did mediocre today.
On a plus point the kerb thing is getting better, I’m giving myself more room and it feels a lot better and my hill starts went OK.
Just need to kill the speed a bit but it’s a work in progress as they say
Sounds like you are getting on pretty well. I had 3.5 hour sessions for training and found it all very draining, but as stupid as it sounds I think it is because I felt under pressure to perform etc whereas I don’t feel I’d struggle with an 10 hour drive.
Thanks guys, and you were right animal a good night’s sleep did me the world of good.
Day 3 of training today and it went really well, I covered 2 test routes and had a good practice at the reversing which I think I have much better understanding of now. Hill start was good too (lots of hills in Wales lol).
I had a different instructor today who wasn’t so chatty as the first and I think I coped a bit better - not to disrespect the first instructor because he taught me how to drive the vehicle in the first place but it’s always nice to get someone else’s tips
I did expect to be going in for 8.20am tomorrow but when I turned up today I was asked to come in for 6.15 am, I thought they were joking but apparently not so plenty of sleep for me tonight!

Well I didn’t pass - I stopped too close to a bus stop so instant fail but otherwise 7 minors and since I only started driving a lorry on Monday after never stepping foot in one before I am quite pleased.
I was really nervous because I had to wait for the other student to do his test first and could have done with getting a bit more driving in to warm me up but never mind I’ll embrace the experience for what it is and I have learnt that I am capable of passing and I just need to relax more (and get a good night’s sleep).
I was also chuffed that I went through a notoriously tricky test route which I hadn’t ever encountered before and that the independent drive went well because I was worried about that. The cornering, hill start I had no problems with and got the reverse in in one go without needing to give it a shunt.
The examiner did ask when I started driving and I told him Monday and he said I did quite well then, just not good enough with planning tut-tut.
